Fire Pete Carroll

Unread post by RenoRaiders75 »

I didn't see a thread yet, I wanted Pete to be able to stay a few years to rebuild us back, but it is clear to me that he is clueless on how to fix what is broken. We have made the same mistakes every week, with no corrections. He has to go! Thoughts?

There’s nothing special about Telesco. What was special about his short tenure, is due to Pierce’s naïveté, Doofus allowed the GM to do his job. Doofus won’t recognize this of course.

Also, f[raiders_icon]ck Doofus.

Could be Spytech sees this roster for what it is - a rebuild so he knew it wasn't worth throwing free agent money at this year.
We know Pete over estimated the talent level and thought he could win.

Or Spytech is just another GM just in name, much like Mayock with no powers.
The free agency assessment makes sense… minus the Geno move. I mean we basically designed an offence that couldn’t possibly work… and brought in the most expensive bridge QB we could find to run it. You’d think a day 2 rookie QB, or a cheap vet on a 1 year deal would be more aligned with that philosophy. Like what the browns, saints or jets did this year.

Taking a TE that high isn’t necessarily a popular pick (even if it was the most productive college TE of all time). Contextually, this was a year after picking Mayer early in the 2nd. Would argue it was a great pick for those reasons. I’d also say JPJ was a good value pick and when healthy and not in Pete’s dog house - looks like a good player.

Not saying Telesco was some superstar but I don’t think he deserved to be fired.

In comparison, I think Spytech is more deserving of a quick firing than Telesco imo. I love Jeanty, loved the pick (and still do)… but bech was a questionable pick at the time and hasn’t done anything. The rest you don’t expect much from but even on a team so devoid of talent that there’s no reason not to give all your rookies reps… half these guys still can’t get on the field and struggle to make any impact when they do.

The bigger issue I have with Spytech was his free agency. Opted not to bring back anyone on defence and instead went the bargain bin route. And yet with all the cap room available (partially a result of letting our D walk)… we didn’t address an o-line (or WR core) that was clearly going to be a problem (again).

Instead we basically spent most of our cap front loading deals for Geno and Maxx. In a lot of ways - the results we’ve seen are a feature of last offseason, not a bug. I’m willing to concede that maybe there’s a master plan here: tank your first season and go into your 2nd offseason with a boatload of cap and a high pick you can use on a QB. I’m also willing to concede that even if that’s the plan… you couldn’t go into this season advertising it.

Something just feels like everyone involved is genuinely surprised at the results though. Which kind of undermines the “chess not checkers” plan we can only hope is taking place
No one knows this for sure. Those players that left could've simply wanted out of this shit organization and weren't staying even if they had an offer. Not sure why everyone jumps to the conclusion that he let players walk

I really think Pete was calling the shots when he was named the HC of the raiders….the Jeanty pick had Pete prints all over it; but someone forgot to tell Pete that you need blockers to actually help the running back get yards….should have went OT or Guard with 1st pick and also do the same with the 2nd round pick and then draft a running back….

Yup, and it was the deepest running back class in years, golden rule in modern day is you don't take a RB in the first round.

Yeah I agree; but just can’t see Mark doing that….
In the beginning when he first took over from his dad; he let Reggie McKenzie be the GM and basically let him do all the work; Reggie did hire Dennis Allen but back then it was really hard to get someone to come to Oakland to coach the raiders; but once Allen was fired then Mark started getting involved in hire of the next HC; Del Rio

I get that, my main point to whom I responded to was his wild imaginings and when I asked him what Spytek had done to warrant a firing, he mentioned one thing and then started on his Brady headhunt. His ability to critically think was lacking vastly in his response.

To me it’s obvious Pete was a panic hire after whiffing on who we were originally going after. What we ended up with is a vibes coach who is slowly losing his ability to be a motivational speaker and looks lost at post game press conferences and the sidelines during games. When you have a billionaire owner who thinks that haircut looks good I guess you can’t expect good decisions.

Mark did things right when he first took over hiring a GM first but since Allen got fired, he’s treated the GM position like an afterthought as he’s hired coach first in all successive hires. It’s why the Raiders have fared so poorly via the draft as the head coaches have had far too much say in the decision making. Most normal organizations give their GM’s two coach hires before they land on the hot seat but with Davis hiring the head coaches first, the GM ends up following them out the door and every draft lacks cohesive vision with new GM’s year after year.

It’s really not that hard to understand why this organization cannot get better. It’s because Mark Davis has done things the wrong way and continues to do things the wrong way. He used to say earlier in ownership “I don’t know what I don’t know” but clearly he doesn’t practice what he preaches because he keeps hiring the coaches himself when he is not qualified to hire coaches.

Membou in the 1st; Ratliff or Savaneia in the 2nd; Judkins or Skatebo with 1st 3rd round pick; Rogers with 2nd 3rd round pick. The end.

Attyla wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 10:55 am So let's see, Telesco got Bowers, which was the biggest no brainer in that entire draft. Spytek took the best RB in the draft and the consensus best player available when we picked
Telesco did not give us a HC, that was Davis because Pierce was hired before Telesco
Telesco did not move Powers Johnson, that was Pierce and he graded out high pass blocking but not run blocking
Brady did not hire anyone. Carroll picked his coordinators.
You don't know what I believe regarding judging anyone. I look at each situation based on circumstances, not a blanket view.
Brady is not in charge, he is a minority owner with a voice in the room. And actually, this season, he has been far removed from the team
Brady spent almost no time at the facility during the off season as well.

You have a lot of hatred for a guy who is not around much, and is not in charge of anything.

So again, what did Telesco do honestly? You answered that question by telling me a bunch of shit that everyone but Telesco did.
You keep saying Brady has no say here when Mark has admitted it & Vinny confirms it all the time

No, I say he is a voice in the room. Nobody with direct knowledge says Brady is making decisions

But more importantly, you keep making up shit because for some f[raiders_icon]cking reason you have this irrational hatred for Brady.

Now again, back to the thing you keep dodging, what has Spytek done that warrants a firing in one year?

One really good thing Spytek has done (other than the Geno trade which no doubt Petey wanted) is not squander future resources. If we can get Mendoza (or Moore though i prefer Mendoza) we have picks and money to build around them.
