Kirk Cousins

Post by Reno Hightower »

I have rarely seen a QB do more with less. Kubiak has made it clear that he is the guy this year but his play has really defied conventional wisdom. The run blocking is as putrid as it was last season. The pass blocking has been getting compliments but how much as that has to do with Cousins's pocket presence and pre snap reads?

I am not sure the subject deserves its own thread but I think what he has accomplished this season cannot be overstated and he has essentially put the offense on his back. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

Thoughts?...

Feelings must be left outside the building, in your car or even in your wife’s purse, at all times.
bmore will pay up, at 4-4 with zero qbs desperation sets up perfect for the over pay... spytek needs to play bmore like a fiddle especially with multiple teams really really needing qbs

Sure, if they want to exercise monumental stupidity, let's hear them out, but it's difficult to imagine it happening. We've certainly done our share of stupid things (see Carson Palmer), but we can't count on it anyone else being as dumb as this team's been in the past.
4 and 4 they are in the race...no way are they rolling over and just giving up ...fleece em

ps wonder what minny would be willing to pony up, they are 6 and 1 with a great team, only thing holding em down is kyler murray whom has been horrible this yr ...anyone think they roll into the playoffs with kyler murray the shrimp

I think the problem with the idea of a Baltimore trade is, does Cousins look even half this good in their system? It truly is like a perfect marriage currently between Kubiak system and Cousins.

We have a QB who's doing well while our shiny new rookie gets to learn from him, so if the Vikes want him, they're going to have to pay through their collective bunghole. They're 6-1 and have a kick-ass defense. What they don't have is a quarterback. They'd be 7-0 right now with decent QB play.

If they want Cousins, they need to make it impossible for us to say no.
agree superbowl windows r incredibily small and the viking have a great team minus a good qb and lets not forget kirk has history in minny

lets not kid ourselves bmore with huntley was winning games and he sucks, kirk would be a huge upgrade to their entire offense in every way passing and running, right now bmore entire offense has ground to a halt as teams compress to stop henry not fearing zay flower, mark andrews and company as passing threats due to no qbs worth a damn on the team

Maybe they can take Jeanty instead. Then they would have a shrimp duo. They could call em Bubba and Gump. Or Scampi and Skewer.

Sauce could be the second coming of Deion; it doesn’t matter, he’s not a QB.

A team desperate enough or believing they are in the cusp and feels they “need just one more piece” for a playoff push might attempt to trade for him. Again so it’s not misconstrued, I used Gardner as an example of equivalency but as an example of a team acting for perceived need prior to the trade deadline.
I did not bring up Sauce you did. I thought it was an odd comparison and made no sense. I replied and now you come back with QB is a different position? No shit. If you guys want to dream of a huge bounty for Cousins go for it. I hope we do but Im not counting on it

Yes as a comparison and my usage of him was clear: an example of a team making a choice before the deadline, nothing more.

I explained it further because I could see how it would be misconstrued and it was. Why because their value to scarcity means teams have to pay whatever the demand is if they want the player. Good, high quality starting QBs are a finite resource.

And lastly?
1. I do not want Kirk traded. I want them to adhere to the plan they are apparently working for.

2. I do not believe we will trade Kirk.

3. If for some reason they do and it’s Baltimore they have to pay through the nose.

None of those contradict each other and represent my stance on the matter.

And yes the rules for QBs are literally different for any other position out there in terms of how trades and compensation work.

The way Cousins is playing, if we had any semblance of defense, we'd be a playoff contender who could make noise. And this is also a testament to Kubiak who can mask the lack of short yardage running game with high level play calling, especially in the redzone..and knowing how to utilize Brock.

Wellness Celebration, a nod to the Raiders medical staff, the tissue guys, he said the rest of the league does not have this type of tissue activity.

We were never going to fix everything in one year and switching up your primary defense sets takes a bit to work out. And we had personnel from like 4 different coaching staffs. That is a lot to absorb in one year.
