Fire Pete Carroll

Unread post by RenoRaiders75 »

I didn't see a thread yet, I wanted Pete to be able to stay a few years to rebuild us back, but it is clear to me that he is clueless on how to fix what is broken. We have made the same mistakes every week, with no corrections. He has to go! Thoughts?

If it was his draft and I don't think it was

Exactly. Why people want to keep insisting that Spytek had anything to do with this draft or offseason is beyond me. This was ALL Pete Carroll. I'll say it again, if you want to blame Spytek for anything, blame him for giving Pete full control. That's it.

I'll also say this, if Pete is retained, then Spy can f[raiders_icon]ck himself. If Pete is canned, Spy deserves another chance. Esp with a franchise QB incoming.

The Cappa signing was crap but I dont have an issue with him not resigning a bunch of guys to big contracts. Ultimately going into the offseason with a top pick and 100+ cap room is better than going in picking 8th and a lot less cap room
The issue is the disconnect between pete going for it and spytek actually building for the future

And we will on the draft class. It appears pete had final say and Spytek was using the previous regimes front office, not his own. Hopefully Bech and Rogers become players as they started to show some talent.

I don't think you can even blame him for giving Pete control. That's all Mark and he's done it the past two hires excluding AP

Leaks have indicated it was Spytek's draft. The discord between him (and Brady's guys) and Papa (and the coaching staff) were that Pete refused to play the young players. I do not know how anyone can say Spytek did not have a hand in the draft (or Cappa). Papa is the lead douche bag no doubt. I still can not fathom how he just released Pratt (and not tried to trade him) especially since he may have been our best LB. However, Spytek has to be accountable as well. We need to tear this shit down.

Who should make the decision "to tear this down"? Mark Davis, who many say he should stay out of the football operation. Tom Brady? Who many say he's a great QB, but knows nothing about football operation. Who should be retained to start The Raiders' future? Who should be hired?

Nah. I actually think Mark stayed out of it this time. I think that's the exact reason Telesco was let go after 1 year and Spy was hired. So Mark didn't have to get involved.

Do you think Spytek gave Carroll too much control? Or was it a condition Carroll demanded to be hired?

I absolutely think it was something Pete demanded. Ultimately Spy had no choice since its very clear the Raiders had to settle on the old bastard.

Question for me is who wants to be head coach of this team? We ended up with Pete because no one wanted this job. The only hope I have (that's if they get rid of Pete) is that everyone knows we're picking a QB and maybe some young OC would want to work with him. Otherwise we're screwed.

Correct. That's going to be the only selling point. The #1 pick. But there should be plenty of young offensive minded coaches that will want to work with a high character guy like Mendoza.

I think with The Raiders' assets going into the 2026 season there will be several candidates that will want to be part of the change. I've posted before, out of the ex Head Coaches, I would be happy with Saleh. Otherwise take an NFL Offensive Coordinator who is ready to take the next step. I would stay away from any of the College Head Coaches as I think there is just too much that has to be done with The Raiders to be learning the NFL on the job.

No more "Pats west" or trying to make us the Seahawks of old. For me it's even time to put the old Raider mantras to bed. Its time for this team to make its own identity and hopefully that starts with the new QB and a new young OC coach.
