The Chargers Host Our Raiders Game Day Thread
Well, here is the first test of the season. We play the second half of the game day schedule.
Chargers are favored by 6.5 points
Over/Under is 43.5
Last game the Chargers got rocked by the Cardinals 26-14. The Raiders beat the Dolphins 27-13 in what could be considered a tune up game.

Think I heard someone say that Cousins is the 1st Raider QB to throw 3 TDs in his first 2 games of the season since Ken Stabler in 1976...hard to believe that was 50 years ago.

That's the way the rule works, other than on 4th down or in the last two minutes of a half. I think we should have challenged the ruling of a fumble vs incomplete pass though.HesterLayes wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:09 pm I haven’t went and rewatched..someone give me the reasoning the chargers were able to gain the yardage on the Herbert forward fumble.thanks

It's hard to believe under any circumstances lolraidersince63 wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:09 pm Think I heard someone say that Cousins is the 1st Raider QB to throw 3 TDs in his first 2 games of the season since Ken Stabler in 1976...hard to believe that was 50 years ago.

I can recall before there was instant replay/challenge. Refs would often consider that if the ball went forward as the QB's arm was hit, it was considered a forward pass and if it went backward it was deemed a fumble.
By no means an end-all for making calls/rulings on the field...but hey, it's all they had back in the day.

Under normal playing conditions, a live fumble can be recovered and advanced by any player on either team. The strict restriction that stops a teammate from advancing a forward fumble only triggers under three specific scenarios:HesterLayes wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:09 pm I haven’t went and rewatched..someone give me the reasoning the chargers were able to gain the yardage on the Herbert forward fumble.thanks
It is 4th down.
It happens within the last two minutes of either half (or in overtime).
It occurs during a two-point or extra-point conversion attempt.

Yep that's the rule created.
I'm surprised there isn't an footnote: Chargers are allowed unlimited forward advanced fumbles when playing the Raiders.

There was a play earlier where Stokes forced a fumble on Herbert, the ball went forward 8 yards where Hampton recovered for the Chargers. The refs brought the ball back to where Herbert fumbled behind the line of scrimmage almost like a sack. It was neither 4th down or within two minutes of the half if I’m remembering correctly..chucker wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:12 pm That's the way the rule works, other than on 4th down or in the last two minutes of a half. We got the W so I am not complaining. Why did Klint not challenge the play. He took a time out. The challenge would have been our time out. That was poor decision making on his part (or whoever is in charge of that).

Yes it seemed really stupid not to challenge that. Especially with just 4 minutes left in the game - it's worth burning a challenge when there are only 2 minutes remaining before you can't challenge anymore, even if you think it's a slim chance you win the challenge. I think the odds of winning the challenge were 50-50 at best, but that would easily be worth it.RI RAIDER wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 5:58 am We got the W so I am not complaining.
