Kirk Cousins
I have rarely seen a QB do more with less. Kubiak has made it clear that he is the guy this year but his play has really defied conventional wisdom. The run blocking is as putrid as it was last season. The pass blocking has been getting compliments but how much as that has to do with Cousins's pocket presence and pre snap reads?
I am not sure the subject deserves its own thread but I think what he has accomplished this season cannot be overstated and he has essentially put the offense on his back. I don't think anyone saw this coming.
Thoughts?...

That's not happening for sure. I would rather have a 3 than let him walk for nothing at the end of the season. Im fine if they just keep him for the season.Opoponax50 wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 3:15 pm Nothing less than a first. We have a QB who's doing well while our shiny new rookie gets to learn from him, so if the Vikes want him, they're going to have to pay through their collective bunghole. They're 6-1 and have a kick-ass defense. What they don't have is a quarterback. They'd be 7-0 right now with decent QB play.
If they want Cousins, they need to make it impossible for us to say no.

If you can give up a 4th to keep the dream alive with an aging bruiser of a back, do you do it? As a fan, I would want them to make the attempt

Kirk is having a career year, but this is one of the worst years to be an AFC wild card team. Have to win at least 10 to have a chance.
I'd trade Maxx with no hesitation as he doesn't fit our scheme. He's a 43 edge and a 3rd down pass rush specialist in a 34 that's starting because of rep.
Our team will be better against the run next year Keyron Crawford and Paye at end with a rookie NT. Koonce standing up.
Kirk is auditioning for the next team that will need his services. Sticking with Kirk next year hurts us, Mendoza needs to play.

I don't think the wins need to be qualified. Weaker opponents? When is the last time another team was considered a lesser opponent to the Raiders outside of its fan base? I do understand the skepticism
Cousins may not looking to be a backup but he is 38. Kubiak is using up the last ounce of good football Cousins has left to offer. If he wants to stay in the NFL and be a part of what Klint is building-maybe he stays in a lesser role. It's difficult to say but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
All I know is that I haven't enjoyed watching Raiders football this much since 2002. The organizational fundamentals are solid the team seems to be on the rise.
2016 and 2021 really never seemed legit to me-fools gold...
The fact that we are having this debate in November is a good thing.

Pretty sure many here will despise the Ravens for years to come. That being said, business is business, and if they are top bidders in any deal, you take it. It’s more about us building a better team even when there might be personal feelings involved.mstrbass2000 wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 8:03 am baltimore and philly would pay up ...what about minny ??? the shrimp stinks up there and kirk has ties tot he vikings
ps a deal with bmore would have to be way way more then the other for f[raiders_icon]cking us over on the max trade ...they r down to fag nano at qb and he is banged up
Feelings must be left outside the building, in your car or even in your wife’s purse, at all times.

I'm not saying that you don't trade with the Ravens, but it's safe to say that you don't trust them and you make it clear to them that they will have to add on a PREMIUM in a trade. Use the history to your advantage. By the way, the Raiders weren't the first team they f[raiders_icon]cked over by not completing a trade, the Vikings were a notable victim too.

This is exactly how I feel sitting here at the moment. Just needed someone to explain and you did a good job without having to resort to crayons.Reno Hightower wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 5:38 pm I don't think the wins need to be qualified. Weaker opponents? When I said earlier three first round picks? I wasn’t kidding. If D lineman are garnering two first round picks stands the reason QBs got for three.
The Ravens don’t like that? For that craptastic organization they need to pony up four.

I doubt Cousins is moved because of his relationship with KK (record be damned). He has performed admirably. I doubt KK would do him dirty without having a conversation (something they may be doing as we speak). IF Cousins wants to go to the Ravens (or any other team for that matter), KK will get him there. He may want to play meaningful games one more time in his career and now is that time. He could start for a couple of teams with Super Bowl aspirations. One thing for sure is that it is unlikely he gets that same chance next season.chucker wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 5:42 am I'm not saying that you don't trade with the Ravens, but it's safe to say that you don't trust them and you make it clear to them that they will have to add on a PREMIUM in a trade. I think Cousins knows that if this team isn't on a playoff trajectory at the bye, he's going to be watching Mendoza play. If the team is willing to trade him, I think he'll be happy to go - because it would only be a contender who would want to trade for a 38 year old QB.RI RAIDER wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 5:52 am I doubt Cousins is moved because of his relationship with KK (record be damned). Despite all my talk about trading Cousins...... I don't believe it actually happens. Teams with a chance at the playoffs just don't make that move, even when they know their team is flawed. It will be a conversation for 7 more days though.

I'd trade Cousins for a 3rd. Baltimore's price is higher than that, because f[raiders_icon]ck Baltimore. Anything less than a 3rd and I don't think the opportunity cost is worth being able to play Kirk until the bye week. The plan imo has always been to make the switch to Mendoza then. Three straight home game with winnable opponents, you do right by the rest of the lockerroom making the change then too.

In a perfect world...
Cousins goes to Vikings for a #2
Cousins leads Vikings to Superbowl
Mendoza takes over and leads Raiders on historic rookie run to the Superbowl
Cousins vs Mendoza in the Big Game...
I wake up...

A 3rd is nowhere close enough. For the first time in over two decades, this team is in the driver's seat when it comes to a big trade. We have zero motivation to trade Cousins away, so if someone wants him, they're going to have to pony the f*** up.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 6:12 am I'd trade Cousins for a 3rd. Nothing less than a first, and since Minnesota's first rounder is likely to be in the mid to late twenties, we should get a third as well.
Things are on track for us--better than we had any right to expect. Trading that for a low 3rd round pick would be terrible for team morale and our record.

I really do not think KK is going to be a stickler for compensation if a Cousins trade happened. I think Kirk is a friend and he will treat him with the respect that he deserves and not hold him back (if he desires to play meaningful football one more time).
