Chargers hit Kirk imo quite a lot as well and good to see that wasn't Mendoza.mstrbass2000 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 7:10 am i disagree with this...the chargers did not win the line of scrimmage, the raiders had good pressure on herbert all game long and made the necessary stops and our lbs/cbs made plays all game long by taking the ball away is the defense perfect, no it is not perfect but we are at least a top 15 defense now and it shows
They could run, we could not.
Overall I saw a lot of last year in our oline yesterday.
I'm expecting to see much lower PFF scores this week.

I'm going to have to agree with you there. The Raiders won with our back 7, not our front 4.SkullCrusher wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 7:52 am Chargers hit Kirk imo quite a lot as well and good to see that wasn't Mendoza.

Contact powskiThe Chargers defense is good against the run and the OL didnt run block well or give Jeanty much room. His running wasnt great on its own, but he finished better despite them focusing on him. Im not worried about his rushing ability or his dropped passes debacle yet. I think this will light a fire under his ass and he makes sure to secure the catch before thinking of running before he does have the ball first.
The run blocking wasn't good, and hopefully that improves. Glaze and Burford aren't very good.

A major difference so far this year is The Raiders are winning the games not the opponents losing the games.

I respectfully disagree about going for a field goal when you are at the 1-yard line. If we are at the 2-yard line, then I would agree that the field goal in that situation would be the more prudent move. But at the 1-yard line, the chances are 65/35 that you make it (according to history per AI), significantly better than 50/50. And to me, the risk is worth the reward because in the unlikely event that you are stopped, you give the ball up at the 1 yard line, where your defense can pin their ears back and go for a safety or at least prevent the first down and get great field position on the ensuing drive. As it turned out, the latter is exactly what happened, and after preventing the first down and getting great field position, we went on to score the TD anyway. Going for it is also the more agressive choice, which I like.SkullCrusher wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 5:27 pm Yeah coaching is solid, pretty easy to see that. We made a mistake not going for 3 on the 4th and goal early at 0-0. That 3 could have been the difference. When it was 20-14 in the 4th... that 3 would have looked a lot better than. Always kick the points if it gives you a lead. Teams looking nice, line took a step back, but overall team looking up.

I am so glad you mentioned this! I was screaming at the TV for Kubiak to challenge that "fumble" as I thought it was clearly a pass. Even the announcers agreed that it was a pass. And Kubiak called a time out instead!! Why didn't he just challenge? t makes no sense. It gave the Chargers 4th and 1 instead of 4th and 6! And then putting 12 men on the field after the time-out, and gifting the Chargers a first down?!! That was the old raiders at their finest...I really thought they blew the game right there. But then in the unlikeliest of Raiders scenarios, Hampton fumbles the next play and the Raiders recover!! OMG, I knew right there that this was going to be a different game, one where the Raiders actually stop giving the game away and actually take the victory from the jaws of defeat. God it felt good heheHawkeyes wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:40 pm The only issue I had with coaching today was not challenging the Herbert “fumble”. Overall very happy. I know there are going to be weeks we don’t look good, and we still have a team with a lot to learn. But as long as the coaching staff is given time and patience this team will get better every year.
Imagine next year when the team hits mini camp already knowing the offense and defense, the plays, what expectations are, what we are trying to accomplish instead of trying to learn an all new system and coaching staff. They can show up focused on making tweaks and improvements instead of starting from scratch. That alone is going to put us months ahead in development from where we normally are. That stability is something we’ve been missing for decades.

Yep. That's what everyone wanted before the season and I don't recall anyone not saying we should lose the games we should win. We beat a team we should be able to beat and won a game that on paper we should've lost.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 3:12 am It’s nice to win the games you should win for a change
We've played two games and are 2-0 and won by double digits in both games. I guess we should be 4-0 after two games?

...again, I didn't see last week's game, and just sharing what a poster last week shared after the game against a weaker Miami team, but I am almost positive that I saw someone post the o line tackle ratings and with glaze having been on it in the top bunch.powski wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 8:19 am The Chargers defense is good against the run and the OL didnt run block well or give Jeanty much room. ...I expect ups and downs, and especially in the new system, but I would like to see more before commenting with more conviction on that one....

A small observation. Coach doesn't piss away timeouts. Seems to have a nice handle on how to use them. It will pay dividends in the future.

Jamaree Caldwell for the Chargers is a stud 6'1 340 squatty as f[raiders_icon]ck nose tackle with a ton of athleticism. Tier Tart is another stud nose tackle. Dalvin Tomlinson is a proven vet who can play. All three of those guys are basically on the field 75% of the time. We all know Mack is a force against the run. Tupalotu is a 270lb hammer on the other edge, also good against the run. Derwin James is roving around, often times in the box. Henley is a very good inside backer all around. That Charger front 7-8 is very solid. They are not bums by any means.
Not enough credit is given to Kirk for showing out yesterday. He hit his throws. He played very well. I don't wanna hear about his deep ball being like Hellen Keller searching for a needle in a haystack again. Kirk has spoken! Lol

I lean towards a pass and totally worth reviewing and why not if you are going to also call TO at the same time????????raiderash1 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 8:56 am I am so glad you mentioned this! I was screaming at the TV for Kubiak to challenge that "fumble" as I thought it was clearly a pass.
But I have no idea what the refs would have called, I think we all have seen inconsistency with this one.

....based on all I have seen so far, I also would count on him addressing any possible 'glitch in the system' regarding not having had the help to push him to challenge that possible, apparent, incomplete pass, as that is the kind of miss that could really cost us big in the future....
