Seems quite odd that before the season began, most everyone agreed that we are in full rebuild and that losing a lot of games this year wouldn't necessarilly be a bad thing...but now, all of a sudden, playing well and winning games is somehow not a good thing?
...unbelievable.

...I have felt all along that with the quality players we knew we had, and with some of the kids drafted over the last few years that many of us thought were good picks, value, whatever, at the time, that the team wasn't as putrid as Pete and his kid made them appear to have been, and with the smart off season pick ups to address some of those areas most in need of addressing, and the draft, this team looked to have far less holes that there were last year, and with a roster that could compete with most, if everything came together with the new coaching, and all of the new moving parts.raidersince63 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 4:41 am Seems quite odd that before the season began, most everyone agreed that we are in full rebuild and that losing a lot of games this year wouldn't necessarilly be a bad thing...but now, all of a sudden, playing well and winning games is somehow not a good thing?

2-0 is a nice start, but every week will tell its own story on where we are at that time, as the team continues to learn the systems and get the reps in to be able to execute them.

Our short leg Gay kicker nailed a 58 yarder.
I still dont expect a winning season. We have now played two bad teams in basically home games.
But the future looks bright.

Can't both things be true?raidersince63 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 4:41 am Seems quite odd that before the season began, most everyone agreed that we are in full rebuild and that losing a lot of games this year wouldn't necessarilly be a bad thing...but now, all of a sudden, playing well and winning games is somehow not a good thing?

I was and am still ok with a top 5 pick in hopes of getting Jeremiah Smith BUT I ALSO and am happy they're 2-0.

Sure, but without naming names, evidently not by everyone.DeathStar24 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 5:37 am Can't both things be true?

It was still early to really know how much the Chargers were controlling the line of scrimmage, but yes that matters.Steve007 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 2:10 am That’s one of the reasons teams go for it. If they don’t make it, other good things could happen. You can get a safety because your opponent is backed up against the goal line. Your opponent could turn it over which leads to a score. Your opponent could punt from deep in their own territory leading to another scoring opportunity for your team.
The one reason I might hesitate to go for it is the Chargers shut down the running game. I want to feel confident the team can get the td if I’m going for it and at the time I wasn’t confident and wasn’t that surprised the Chargers stuffed that play. So I wouldn’t hate a field goal there to get the lead.
Overall I think the Charges won the trenches overall both sides overall, not a blow out there. That also shows good coaching, getting a win when not winning the line of scrimmage.

I disagree, the Raiders pressured Herbert all game, forcing a bad interception and many inaccurate throws. 25 of Hampton’s rush yards came in garbage time so the rush defense wasn’t as bad as the stats suggestSkullCrusher wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 6:40 am It was still early to really know how much the Chargers were controlling the line of scrimmage, but yes that matters.

NOT ME,ive wanted to compete for wins this yr...seen too many teams go from worst to first in 1 yrWNYRAIDER wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 4:59 am ...I have felt all along that with the quality players we knew we had, and with some of the kids drafted over the last few years that many of us thought were good picks, value, whatever, at the time, that the team wasn't as putrid as Pete and his kid made them appear to have been, and with the smart off season pick ups to address some of those areas most in need of addressing, and the draft, this team looked to have far less holes that there were last year, and with a roster that could compete with most, if everything came together with the new coaching, and all of the new moving parts.

...yeah, it seems like most of their success was the earlier drive where they answered our first drive for 7...Trainnvain wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 7:01 am I disagree, the Raiders pressured Herbert all game, forcing a bad interception and many inaccurate throws. 25 of Hampton’s rush yards came in garbage time so the rush defense wasn’t as bad as the stats suggest

i disagree with this...the chargers did not win the line of scrimmage, the raiders had good pressure on herbert all game long and made the necessary stops and our lbs/cbs made plays all game long by taking the ball away is the defense perfect, no it is not perfect but we are at least a top 15 defense now and it showsSkullCrusher wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2026 6:40 am It was still early to really know how much the Chargers were controlling the line of scrimmage, but yes that matters.

yep, I know we still need to bolster a few pretty important areas, and get the kid up to speed, but this is the first time in a long time where you could say that maybe 3 positions, or so, (DT, WR, RT,...) are the areas most in need of upgrading, as opposed to a dozen of them having been in desperate need.
