Because we were one of the teams that beat them.

See, if we were 0-2 but played the Phins and Chargers close, it would mean we're a better team than the 2-0 team we are now.

Or something.

Get lead.
That 3 could be the difference later in a variety of scoring combos.
We could have scored 7 the next drive and been up 2 scores.

What if:
If we are up 7 do you kick 3 to go up two scores on a 4th and short?
That’s one of the reasons teams go for it. If they don’t make it, other good things could happen. You can get a safety because your opponent is backed up against the goal line. Your opponent could turn it over which leads to a score. Your opponent could punt from deep in their own territory leading to another scoring opportunity for your team.

The one reason I might hesitate to go for it is the Chargers shut down the running game. I want to feel confident the team can get the td if I’m going for it and at the time I wasn’t confident and wasn’t that surprised the Chargers stuffed that play. So I wouldn’t hate a field goal there to get the lead.

All week I heard things like:

The Chargers are angry after losing game 1 and will be extra motivated to win their 2nd game.

Miami was the worst team in the league; beating them means nothing. The Chargers are a real team that will expose this Raiders team.

Cousins can’t throw longer than 10 yards and as a result the Chargers will expose him, shut down Jeanty, and shut down plays less than 10 yards and make the offense look pathetic.

The team won game 1 last year and then got exposed by the Chargers in week 2.

Last season the team didn’t get its third win until January 4.

If it happens a win over the Saints on September 27 would match the win total for last season .

I get it; but in the past we would have found a way to lose; got a lot of young players on this team and if the raiders can get to .500 point at the end of season, could really turn this team into powerhouse in 2027…,

I actually had the raiders winning 5 games this year; now I am thinking they could win 8 games or nine…

after two games? We had the first pick last year. We have no f[raiders_icon]cking idea what our team is. Chargers lost to AZ. Miami got curb stomped yesterday.

We are in the defining period of our progress.

Miami couldn't beat half the teams in the SEC and their is something seriously off with the Bolts.

Biggest differences I see is the Oline and they are winning the turnover margin. Improved yes, but we'll see where they stand in the next few weeks with Pats, Chiefs, Bills, and Rams coming up.

...and while we should have beat Miami, the chargers, struggling or not, still have a lot of talent and were desperate for the win at home, so if nothing else, today's game adds some early legitimacy to the operation, and my hope before the year started was that we could find a way early to win a few while trying to get everyone on the same page.
...the offense will get better, and including the o line, which experienced some growing pains that I think many of us expected they would yesterday against with a much tougher challenge than they had the week prior. ....they got the 'w', and, w e move on....
