Setting the play up for 6’5” Mendo to get single coverage and catch a jump ball TD.Jeevo wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:33 pm Me too. If I’m going Wildcat though I’d just bring on another big body and take Cousins out.

Going for it on 4th down was fine but going "wildcat" before the half and having Cousins split out wide as a receiver wasn't going to fool anyone, and it didn't. And even if Jeanty had not bobbled the snap, I'm not so sure it would have made a difference.
And instead of Jeanty, why not Washington or Heyward in that situation?

The only issue I had with coaching today was not challenging the Herbert “fumble”. Overall very happy. I know there are going to be weeks we don’t look good, and we still have a team with a lot to learn. But as long as the coaching staff is given time and patience this team will get better every year.
Imagine next year when the team hits mini camp already knowing the offense and defense, the plays, what expectations are, what we are trying to accomplish instead of trying to learn an all new system and coaching staff. They can show up focused on making tweaks and improvements instead of starting from scratch. That alone is going to put us months ahead in development from where we normally are. That stability is something we’ve been missing for decades.

They definitely should have challenged that fumble - there wasn't much time left so there was nothing to save challenges for and the Raiders called timeout anyway so it would have cost them nothing if wrong. There was also a first down for the Chargers that could have been worth a challenge.Hawkeyes wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:40 pm The only issue I had with coaching today was not challenging the Herbert “fumble”. It's been a long journey but it appears that your transition from the "Dark Side" side is nearly complete, if so,...Welcome to the "Silver and Black" side.pfish57 wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 4:36 pm I think we Finally have a legitimate coaching staff, and that's the difference between shit & honey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, rookie coach mistake. Hopefully he recognizes that and improves on the challengeschucker wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:43 pm They definitely should have challenged that fumble - there wasn't much time left so there was nothing to save challenges for and the Raiders called timeout anyway so it would have cost them nothing if wrong. It's not about the past, smart football is smart football.mranquales wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:13 pm The Raiders were the master at taking 3 for the last 2 decades,
That 3 could have mattered, esp 20-14 in the 4th. 23-14 a lot more attractive.
We were the masters of open field punting.

We get new players every year through the draft and FA. It would be a bonus having players that have been here and can help the new players during camp, practices, extra coaches so to speak.Hawkeyes wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:40 pm The only issue I had with coaching today was not challenging the Herbert “fumble”. I'm not going to overreact about 2 wins, but we're definitely going to win the Superbowl this year

The Raiders forced a punt from the Chargers 4 yard line that resulted in a touchdown after said punt. Pinning the Chargers deep resulted in a touchdown for the Raiders on great field position... So either way, they got the TD.SkullCrusher wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:53 pm It's not about the past, smart football is smart football.

What caught my attention was how Arizona and Miami both got DESTROYED today.
At least we know of the 4 teams... we are the best of the 4.
Got that going for us.

Chargers look like absolute shit. This is looking like it could be a 5 win team or so for them.Raider_Dave wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:47 pm What caught my attention was how Arizona and Miami both got DESTROYED today.

Yah well that's a lot of random unknowns after the fact. I'm surprised more people don't get this.Goodtimes333 wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 6:59 pm The Raiders forced a punt from the Chargers 4 yard line that resulted in a touchdown after said punt. Get lead.
That 3 could be the difference later in a variety of scoring combos.
We could have scored 7 the next drive and been up 2 scores.
What if:
If we are up 7 do you kick 3 to go up two scores on a 4th and short?
