Cousins signs with Raiders
I don't love this. I get it, but I don't love it.

I don't think O'Connell garners anything in trade other than potentially a conditional pick. If he were on a minimum salary then he might bring a little more, but he just doesn't have real value to a team IMO. The only real value would be if he were only a million bucks for the year. If he were released, I don't think he'd get $3.6 million on the open market.
I don't despise him as an NFL QB like some do, but he's a marginal player - that doesn't bring value in trade. I'll be happy to be wrong.

This^^. AOC could play his way onto the team as QB 3 and that would be fine. I’d rather use a late round pick on some sleeper defender and let AOC be third in line.chucker wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:06 am I don't think O'Connell garners anything in trade other than potentially a conditional pick. Id rather not carry 3 qbs and have the 53rd roster spot for someone else as long as both Cousins and mendoza are healthy

I'm ok with using a late round pick for a QB to carry on the 53. You can only activate 48 for game day but NFL allows a QB who is on your 53 but not on your 48 list to be used on gameday if the other 2 QB's get knocked out.DanKD wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:17 am Id rather not carry 3 qbs and have the 53rd roster spot for someone else as long as both Cousins and mendoza are healthy
However spending 3.6 million (AOC) for our 3rd QB is ridiculous. That currently sits 33rd in the NFL for total cash owed for the year.

I agree about the cost of O'Connell being too high this year, especially as a QB who doesn't even know the system yet. The team could offer him a reduced contract, or they could just hang onto him through the offseason and cut him at the end and maybe add him back to PS if they think that makes sense. Honestly my preference would be to just add Brandon Allen as a guy who has worked with Kubiak before and will be cheaper and knows the system already.BotesBoats wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:27 am I'm ok with using a late round pick for a QB to carry on the 53. No one, and I repeat no one is giving up a 4th or 5th for AOC...just saying!ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:02 am My money is that Aiden gets traded before or during the draft for a 4th or 5th round pick (or backup safety). It frees up a little cap space and we draft a QB in the 5th like the kid from Arkansas to be 3rd QB. I don't see a reason to run AOC out there to go 6-11 ot 7-10, Just tank if both Cousins and Nando go down and get a high draft pick again. Maybe the late QB we draft does well and surprises like Purdy.

Very much agree...another one of her best was "Songbird" and after FM reunited and they had all gone through so much, (health, drugs, infidelity within the band, etc.), every time Christine played that song the rest of the members would often become melancholy and break down on stage...So they agreed that Songbird would always be the last song of the concert and would only be performed by Christine by herself with the rest of the band already backstage.

I was wondering if Kubiak was going to be able to make Aiden look at minimum “serviceable” where a trade for a mid round pick could be had but the signing of Cousins puts that to bed. I think Aiden will just sort of disappear in time

If they are lucky the will find a team that will flip picks in a round for a better position. Something for a salary dump.

Among other issues from last year's Raiders, AOC has never known any stability and consistency in his 1st 3 seasons as far as having the same coach, GM, OC, and system for more than a year at a time.Xramfan wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 1:11 pm I was wondering if Kubiak was going to be able to make Aiden look at minimum “serviceable” where a trade for a mid round pick could be had but the signing of Cousins puts that to bed. But yeah, if he remains with the Raiders I can see him getting better...don't see how he could be any worse.

There's no helping AO12. Let him be some other team's garbage. Trade him for a half roasted marshmallow.

The entire argument of, "if hes ready to go", can only be had because they signed Cousins.
Without Cousins it doesn't matter if hes ready to go or not.

Yeah don't see that happening at all, maybe a pick swap like AOC and a 7th for a 6th rd pickpfish57 wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:41 am No one, and I repeat no one is giving up a 4th or 5th for AOC...just saying!
