Cousins signs with Raiders
I don't love this. I get it, but I don't love it.

I think the biggest advantage Cousins gives is it allows the coaching staff to feed a lot of 1st team reps to Mendoza; Cousins won't need so many due to his experience in the league as well as his familiarity with Kubiak's scheme.

Yeah, we’re all getting older… but at least they’re finally making a respectable attempt to put a real plan together and do it right—for the first time in 40 years. Hang in there.Attyla wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 8:20 am I had a few guys on my personal list, but what I wanted was a career backup who was cerebral without the risk of taking on field snaps from Mendoza. Drew Lock was an option.. Kyle Allen was another. Even Jake Browning would have been a decent option. I wanted a guy who can get Mendoza up to speed, be a voice in the QB room and on the sidelines. But I wanted our shiny new toy to play from the start. I know that is not what the coach wanted but I have been waiting for this season for a long long time. We have had shit at the position with very few exceptions dating back to Plunkett. Hoss, decent, but not elite, Gannon who was great, and not much else.
This me being impatient. I admit it freely. Hell, I am probably even being a bit unreasonable. But that is the fan in me. Hubbard going on IR made me very much aware how quickly some of us are running out of time. My liver can only take so much.
And this is what I think about your “better options,” by the way

7 years with over 4k yards, 8 years with 25+ TD's, his Ints aren't outrageous. Really struggling to see how this is mediocre. He went 6-3 with ATL before Penix took over, and I don't know of a single person who wouldn't accept that while Mendoza learns. I honestly don't know of a better option at this point. Everyone keeps saying Mendoza is NFL ready, but only by intangibles. Nobody has a clue what he is going to look like behind this retooled line, under center, against legit defenses. Anyone who felt comfortable going into this season with Mendoza and Aidan is a glutton for punishment.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 4:28 pm I don't need someone's wife, brother, nephew, roommate, gardener to tell me Cousins isn't a good QB. He's not. He never was. At his best, he was mediocre. Mendoza will be the better option for immediate wins, even now. There's not a doubt in my mind. I think the days of letting an early drafted QB sit are long gone. Esp one as ready as Mendoza. Which is why I'm a little puzzled with the signing. Bc to me, he will be backing up Mendoza, starting week 1. But flip side, everybody's man crush AO12 will be gone. Maybe we can even find a sucker to give us a half eaten cannoli for him.

He is second in the NFL for TD's out of all active QBs. He isn't going to be worse than Geno, and I have to think that he will be more polished than Mendoza. If this line is good, there shouldn't be much that Kirk really has to do.Rainman56 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:42 pmCousins Sux ballz...He's washed and was never great to begin with...Maybe Kubiak can make him look serviceable while Mendoza learns by watching Cousins turn the ball over to opposing defenses.

Always easy to determine IQ when someone makes something that has nothing to do with politics political.NewEraX25 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:52 pm Only took 20 pages for this to get political. Stay classy, sounds about right though to wish harm.

You're better than Geno.NewEraX25 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:51 pm He is second in the NFL for TD's out of all active QBs. He isn't going to be worse than Geno, and I have to think that he will be more polished than Mendoza. If this line is good, there shouldn't be much that Kirk really has to do.
And what in the world makes you think Cousins will be more polished than Mendoza?

Good Lord. The number of toddlers in here is insane. A lot of you need to take your stools over to the corner wall and pout over there.
