Dysfunction is not a culture, what we've had is a long series of back to back coaches that couldn't win and were fired. Weve had constant change with multiple GM's and Coaches. There is NO culture. We dont have a culture embedded into the team, therefore it will be fairly easy to install a culture once a great leader that can win is hired. It would be a lot harder to install a NEW culture in Pittsburgh then it would be to install "A" culture in Vegas. Timing and some Luck are also a factor. It certainly was timing and some Luck for the bears to get that draft position just when Ben Johnson was ready to jump to head coach. I remember the Patriots being the laughingstock of the league for as long as i could remember, until timing and luck aligned for them and got Belichick and Brady. Its not as bad as most of you think. It can be turned around fairly easy. It happens all the time.....

So the question begs, is Davis Web a mute?

It's an extremely valuable skill because the helmet comms cut off with 10 seconds left on the playclock so Webb is the only guy still able to communicate with the QB.

I’m sure the coaching candidates have gotten verbal commitments from prospective coaches/assistants for their staff.

He’s also a skilled ventriloquist, he’s the star of the team talent show every year.

It's an interesting process now that coordinator and QB coach positions need to satisfy the Rooney Rule (2 minority interviews for coordinator and 1 for QB coach). So a new coach can have his guys picked out but he'd still need to do interviews.

raidersince63 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:43 am True, but again, I believe the Raiders are definitely the worst of the bunch...and if I'm someone seeking a job opportunity I'd be more proned to take the job that is among the better of the bunch.

...unless of course that candidate is swayed more by the money than the situation, which in itself is a red flag.
This is a variant of the “ heads I win, tails you lose” fallacy. No good coach will come here unless they bribe him, which reveals his terrible character, which they shouldn’t want around the team anyway

I think every coach needs to be bribed to take a job. Me too. It's called a salary in most industries.

I’d offer McDaniels an interview for HC. I think he’ll give us a really good offence and base for Mendoza to adapt to the league

Yes, it does drag the process out a little longer and inserts some more uncertainty and anxiety into the fanbase. My point being more about the coaches that are looking to make the next step up the ladder more than likely start building a list of potential staff; it’s probably amongst the first thing they do.

Near as I can tell, it will have cost the Raiders around $30 Mil for 1 year and a 3-14 record from PC...nice gig.

In Web's case it was a psychic commitment.
