Not surprised by this, given Stephen Ross' infatuation with all things Harbaugh.

I'd be happy with him as OC...... but lets allow our HC to figure that out.

Do you mean you would look favorably upon someone who WOULD want to come to a dysfunctional situation?

I’m wondering if Stefanski pushed hard for Watson and paid the price for that. Total supposition on my part, but I’m kind of surprised that they let him go, even with the last two seasons being just terrible.

I think there are a lot of dysfunctional situations around the league.

And teams who get their HCs first get the first shot at the in demand guys. Teams who have to wait for guys who are still coaching get left behind in a lot of cases.

Like Stefanski a two time coach of the year or Harbaugh a super bowl winning coach? That kind of known it is better to take a complete unknown. Not that I am saying those are our guys we should go after, but for a lot of teams they are way better option than some unknown.

If it ends up being Kubiak or LaFleur, McDaniel could be a nice OC option

I am pretty sure that was all on the owner, who wanted him no matter the cost.

If I am being honest, if he wasn't a rapist and didn't show 10,000 off field red flags, his on-field play in the seasons prior would have made him a worthy trade target. HOWEVER. . .

IF, and that is a big if, there was a defensive coach who was worth his chops that said, I can/will bring McDaniel in with me, I would be much more open to it.

The ultimate irony. We get a Flores/McDaniel combo.

He's kind of squirrelly but he runs interesting offenses

Did I post this somewhere already? I can't remember.

Good place to follow coaching interviews. There is an even better place, but I can't remember what site it is on. I am old.

RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:54 am I do not know what terminology you are going with but I am saying I would rather take a chance on him rather than regurgitate a previous failure. Known (the Raiders was his first HC interview he has EVER had) and legitimate are totally different in my book. I never said he was not legitimate which is why I said I would take a chance with him.
I agree with all this. My response was a response to your resposne from a previous poster's comments about questioning whether or not Webb is legitimate.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the name Davis Webb:

Pretty close to David Webb.

True, but again, I believe the Raiders are definitely the worst of the bunch...and if I'm someone seeking a job opportunity I'd be more proned to take the job that is among the better of the bunch.

...unless of course that candidate is swayed more by the money than the situation, which in itself is a red flag.
