Should be, yes, but there are things that will come out during the vetting of the candidates that we will not know and could swing the decision. We have bowl games left to play and that will be huge to showcase their abilities and obviously the injury possibility. I am one who thinks if you get to this point without red flags the interview piece becomes a lot less of a factor but it is still important.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 10:50 am If the Raiders are good with both QBs and can't decide then that's mismanagement. It means they would settle for either, just like they did at head coach. fck that, they need to scout, interview, research to their brains fall out. Then pick your guy. That guy should be Mendoza.
But barring anything crazy, Mendoza is the guy.
But trading the first overall pick? Oh hell no, you do not give up the golden ticket, ever. Not when you have been as bad for as long as we have. You do not do that to one of the longest suffering fanbases. Ticket sales are not a factor, that place will sell out regardless. But you do not do that to us and leave us with f[raiders_icon]cking memories of Derek f[raiders_icon]cking Carr as the last guy who you saw in our uni that was even competent.

If we want Mendoza or Moore I see no possibility of a trade.
If it's Raiders, Giants, Jets:
Giants have no reason to trade up, and no way we trade with anyone else with the Giants sitting behind us.
If it's Raiders, Jets, Giants:
If we offer the pick to the Jets so they can take Mendoza, they would know we are more interested in Moore, so why would they trade. They could sit at 2 and make us take Moore #1.
Only way there is a trade is if we for some reason fall in love with a 3rd QB and we're ok passing on Mendoza and Moore.

Simpson would be third, if he comes out. I am less interested in him by far.Raider_Dave wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 11:20 am If we want Mendoza or Moore I see no possibility of a trade.

If we trade to the 3rd pick in any scenario someone will just trade in front of us to 2 for the other QB and we will be sitting there with our thumbs up our ass going BPA, which is most likely a LB. I’d just make the pick at 1.

We haven’t had a competent front office in decades, I don’t think these are the guys we want getting cute to try a squeeze out a little more compensation.

If the Raiders earn the 1st overall pick I can guarantee a 0.00001% chance at trading down. Mark Davis is probably the only guy happier about the opportunity than we fans as it will end the failed experiment of veteran stop gap QB’s. It’s a franchise altering moment for an organization that is badly needed. They will pick one of the two QB’s they like best.

Maybe we can keep trading down until we have 25 picks in rounds 2-7

If we took Dante Moore over Mendoza with the 1st overall pick that would be an automatic F- in my book.

They are closer than you think. The football intelligence of both is right there. Moore has a better overall arm, Mendoza is more mature and he really has the leadership in place to be more NFL ready now. Moore has the bigger ceiling, Mendoza has a better floor.rich72 wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 3:33 pm If we took Dante Moore over Mendoza with the 1st overall pick that would be an automatic F- in my book.
If we have the first pick, it is Mendoza to me, but I am not there at the interviews and we have not seen them yet on the bigger stage. That starts Thursday. A lot of questions will be answered in the next few days.

Not calling you out, just wondering why the consensus is that Moore has the higher ceiling? He’s smaller, less mobile, probably will test out less athletic. Mendoza was enrolled to go to an Ivy League, so tough to argue that Moore is more intelligent. If you think arm ability then maybe but not sold on that either.Attyla wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 5:17 pm They are closer than you think. The football intelligence of both is right there. Mendoza throws a beautiful ball and eats up the blitz. Not sure what the knock is on him but as of today I think he’s alone on QB Tier 1 in this draft.

No, we are cool,, but Moore has the better arm. His deep ball is better. That is is defining separation.Corleone wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 5:52 pm Not calling you out, just wondering why the consensus is that Moore has the higher ceiling? For me it is Mendoza pending the bowls and the interviews

Mendoza looks like Josh Dubow. Lol
Look for Pete, if Mark doesn't pull a Mark, to draft the QB who most resembles the play of Russell Wilson.

Considering the history of the Raiders having some of wildest characters in the game, Mendoza would be the geekiest ever.
...and if he delivers for us I'll be his biggest fan.

The truth behind Fernando Mendoza.
-27 of his 33 TDs came against Kennesaw St,
Indiana St, Illinois, Michigan St, UCLA, Wisconsin, and Purdue.
- The other 6 TDs were against lowa, Oregon, Penn St, Maryland, and Ohio St. He combined for 6 TDs and 5 interceptions in these games.
Disclosure, I copied the above off of something I read, and did not verify…. If this is true, I’m really not on the FM train at the moment. Another disclosure, I haven’t watched a single play of college ball this year….
