Yet you had people saying to trade up for o e of the qbs a couple of years ago. Why on earth would any of those franchises move off of a potential franchise qb? Common sense goes out the window too much in this day & ageBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 6:50 am I'm sorry but the trade down talk is absolutely idiotic. It's pathetic that there are "professionals" out there that are even suggesting it. You have a chance to alter the direction of the franchise by taking a QB that this team hasn't had in over 20 years (longer if you dont count Gannon) and you want to pass on that? I'm sorry but good luck getting any coach, any free agents, any fans in seats if you pass on a QB at 1. I dont give a fck what 2026 QB draft class looks like. It could end up being worse than this class. They need to take the shot NOW.

After careful evaluation of each QB, it might be just fine to trade down to #3 with the Jets. They get Mendoza and we get Moore (assuming the NYG take Reese or Bain. Then we get the Jets #18 in the first round plus a #1 next year and more. Just saying -- it might be worth it is Moore is also The Man. We could take Mendoza and the Giants take Moore, don't trade with the Jets. But, the Giants could then trade Moore to the Jets and get the Jets #3 and #18.
Our roster and franchise is so messed up that they would have to be done just right. Another big drafting mistake could set us back 5-10 more years.

If that happened 100% chance someone trades with the giants and picks Moore. Don't get cute and be stupid. Take Mendoza if at #1.

I really don't want to get cute with this. Take Mendoza and then let the draft come to us. No "mandatory" position picks, just best player when we pick. By then we are done with the first wave of FA and likely have fleshed out a number of holes so we can just take the player who is there that is better than the players below him.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 9:09 am After careful evaluation of each QB, it might be just fine to trade down to #3 with the Jets. Take the QB. No trading. Take the player. This team has a core group of guys. We were in games against really good teams. If special teams wasn’t so awful this year we aren’t even position for #1. We took the bears, Texans, jags, and broncos to the wire. All playoff teams. Geno and leading the league in INTs doesn’t help.

I’m all for taking Mendoza, but our GM will field calls for the pick. If he gets a Herschel Walker type offer he’d finalize the deal ASAP.

30 years ago sure, in today's nfl you take the potential franchise qb no matter teams offer

Says who? If we land the #1 pick, the #2 team will be on the clock after week 18. Bc we will have Mendoza's name on the card ready to go.BoJacksonRules wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 9:54 am I’m all for taking Mendoza, but our GM will field calls for the pick. We have a core group of guys but it is not very strong outside the three we all know. We need a couple of dozen new players on the roster including about 6-10 new starters. In other words, a complete f'ing rebuild.Raidernation1979 wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 9:16 am Take the QB. No trading. Take the player. This team has a core group of guys. Geno was bad at throwing INT's but the O-line stunk even worse when you consider pass protection and run production. We need a new QB, at least three new O-linemen, a DE, 1-2 linebackers and 2-3 def. backfield. Of course, another top WR would be nice but lower priority. Our special teams were not just coached poorly, a lot of the guys covering kicks are too slow. The team needs more overall speed - even the backups. Therefore: if Moore is just as good as Mendoza in 1-2 years of pro ball, I would make a trade. If Ty Simpson declares, he is likely a top ten pick. There might be thought given to trading down and taking him. Just thinking wide here because this team is in desperate shape. And, there is the head coach issue....

Goodell just needs to go to the podium, announce the start of the draft and don't even announce that the Raiders are on the clock. Just announce the pick.

We need 2 offensive lineman for sure. A new center and possibly a guard but the rookie has played well. We have a ton of capital and the draft. Plus coaching alone would make even the current guys better.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 10:03 am We have a core group of guys but it is not very strong outside the three we all know. I don’t believe Moore will ever be a better nfl qb than Mendoza. I also think we are better on D than most. The terrible offense certainly didn’t help our defense. When they were on and energized they looked pretty good.

I agree. No way you come all this way to suck and be the worst just to trade down and pass on franchise caliber QB. That would almost get me with one foot out the door on this team.

The only possible scenario for trading the #1 pick would be if The Raiders are good with either QB and the Giants at #2 want to trade up to #1 to get their guy and offer enough compensation to swap #1 and #2.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 9:58 am Says who? There is no scenario where the Raiders trade out of #1..RickRyb wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 10:37 am The only possible scenario for trading the #1 pick would be if The Raiders are good with either QB and the Giants at #2 want to trade up to #1 to get their guy and offer enough compensation to swap #1 and #2.
Evaluate the QB's, if Spytek can't decide which QB he prefers, then Spytek needs to be fired, and you hire a GM who is capable of doing this job. Considering Brady will be involved in this process, I think it's safe to say they'll choose one of these players they prefer, and it's likely Mendoza.

If the Raiders are good with both QBs and can't decide then that's mismanagement. It means they would settle for either, just like they did at head coach. f[raiders_icon]ck that, they need to scout, interview, research to their brains fall out. Then pick your guy. That guy should be Mendoza.RickRyb wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 10:37 am The only possible scenario for trading the #1 pick would be if The Raiders are good with either QB and the Giants at #2 want to trade up to #1 to get their guy and offer enough compensation to swap #1 and #2.
