Fire Pete Carroll
I didn't see a thread yet, I wanted Pete to be able to stay a few years to rebuild us back, but it is clear to me that he is clueless on how to fix what is broken. We have made the same mistakes every week, with no corrections. He has to go! Thoughts?

What hasn't gone wrong this season in Las Vegas?
The Raiders are 2-12. Two coordinators (OC Chip Kelly and special teams coordinator Tom McMahon) have been fired. Veteran quarterback Geno Smith, acquired for a third-round pick, has thrown 14 interceptions. No. 6 overall pick Ashton Jeanty has rushed 200 times for only 700 yards, with little running room. Superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who signed a contract extension last March, appeared to hit a breaking point in last week's shutout loss to the Eagles.
It all has the fate of 74-year-old coach Pete Carroll very much in doubt. No stranger to making changes, mercurial owner Mark Davis will weigh the feedback he gets from all sides of his building as he considers the possibility of another. Meanwhile, Carroll is intent on convincing the owner he should return.
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady and his business partner Egon Durban have wielded significant influence since becoming Raiders minority owners last year. Brady is close with former Michigan teammate and current GM John Spytek, with both serving as the sounding board for one another. While Spytek was Brady's GM target last year, Brady's prime target for head coach was Ben Johnson, who took the Bears job instead. Expect Brady -- who has spent little time in the Raiders building as he balances his broadcasting duties on Fox and other business interests -- to increase his presence as the decision closes in.
Many of those in the building who know Carroll well understand change may be necessary.
Davis is his own man, though. And all the voices around him report to him. He has won three titles in four years with the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces and believes he can replicate that success with the Raiders.

Davis needs to wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which gets full faster.

Thanks for article….I don’t know; Pete seem like a decent guy and raiders can’t really keep firing coaches every season….the Houston game was nice to watch and the raiders did lose….but the raiders did lose a lot of games this year badly ….. need to move on

Pete overestimated the amount of time it would take to get the guys on the same page with all the newness. But he made some calculated mistakes. Jeanty should have been the focus of the offense and we should have been playing under center 90% of the time to give Jeanty that leverage. That is on Pete not getting Chip on the same page. He also allowed a couple key free agents to walk. And Geno should not have been the target. We might not have ever been on Darnold's radar but there were other options that would not have cost us draft capital. All mistakes that are squarely on Carrol's back.SuperRaider wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 2:16 pm Thanks for article….I don’t know; Pete seem like a decent guy and raiders can’t really keep firing coaches every season….the Houston game was nice to watch and the raiders did lose….but the raiders did lose a lot of games this year badly ….. need to move on
But honestly, watching the games from beginning to end for Mendoza I saw one game he surely wanted back but he is probably better than any of the options we could have gotten last off season and if we get Mendoza it is probably worth this pathetic season. If we miss out, it will be a shame, but like all things, not the end of the world.

"I don't see or feel the buy-in from his message. Pete's always had kind of more of a collegiate kind of a rah-rah type of mentality. And I don't know if that fits the Raiders," Del Rio said. "The Raiders are (expletive) John Madden doesn't care about rules, just go out there and kick somebody's (expletive), and that's what the Raiders are about. And that's what they were about when we were there. When we were together there in Oakland, our team was physical. To me, it starts with the trenches. They have a lot of work to do, man."

Pete made mistakes, no doubt. I still want to see him back. His history suggests he can get this right. I know Father Time is an issue but not yet.
I loved Captain Jack, he needed a wheelbarrow to haul his balls up and down the sidelines in 2015-16. I was against his firing but 8 years later this team needs to move on from the past. The Raiders as we knew them are never coming back and that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing.

No, I really think he needs to be given more time. I don't want to see version 2025 return but I do not believe it will.
I realize this will not be a popular opinion around here.

I dunno. Zoltar thinks he can work through this. Seriously though, we need to quit firing coaches. I have a different perspective on the situation. Steady does it.BoKnows81 wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 6:33 pm I was hoping he was going to tell me he was blasted off something good. Pete does need more time. I would/do agree..... if our coach wasn't 75 years old.Toast wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 6:53 pm I dunno. Zoltar thinks he can work through this. Seriously though, we need to quit firing coaches. I have a different perspective on the situation. Steady does it.
