Fernandomania

Unread post by Reno Hightower »

I'll say this, if the Raiders are able to draft him, the kid will have already unified this forum. Even the most ardent realists are in favor of the pick. Not sure if I have ever witnessed that, certainly not here nor the PSD discussion forum I used to frequent.

There was far from a consensus on Purple Drank. I remember wanting Megatron.

Thread title is a play on the Fernando Valenzuela sensation in the early 1980's.

Well...yea... we are talking about THIS draft lol. I know you've asked me a lot of questions like this in the past so I'm curious, what's your answer at QB? And yes, I agree we need a new coach or all bets are off.

The way Brady was slobbering all over Malik Willis the other night I wouldn’t be shocked if we overpaid in a trade if we miss out on the top 2-3 guys in the draft.

I dont know much about Mendoza, I like to read the NFL draft profiles after the combine to see what the experts think of these guys. A lot of these QBs just arent worth a 1st round pick, especially the top pick. Cam Ward and Bryce Young are 2 recently that kind of suck and were overdrafted. Mendoza does have a good size though which is important in my opinion.

yeah, a big no on abba's Fernando.... hells bells is played out, we now here ACDC songs for almost all teams home games throughout the game.... We should switch to the Guitar intro for Metalica's Master of puppets on a loop.

I don't have any more answers than any of you for a QB. I'm just tired of all the hype over QB's coming out for the draft. It's evident what any of them accomplished in college.... and I get that you have to kind of go with that, but we've all seen high draft QB's fail miserably at the next level.... and QB's taken in the later rounds end up being elite NFL QB's.

I guess I'm just saying we need to make sure the draft isn't just about getting the latest/greatest QB that is in this particular draft. There are other QB's in this draft, too. I'd much rather have a productive draft that sees us taking quality football players over coveted college stars.... no matter what the posistion/s. Good coaching makes all the difference.

I will say after all that: If Mendoza is there for us, we need to take him.

Rock Lobster would definitely be a new direction to go in. It would get fans on their feet too.

Save it for when the Raiders see the playoffs again and blast this while they enter the field. I’d be 21 years old all over again.

Minus Brady, only 3 QB’s have won a Super Bowl not drafted in first round in last 25 years..
Brady is a once in a lifetime find. You’ll never see another late round pick match his production..

I’m just saying, the Draft experts and I’m not talking the stooges on the networks, but legit scouts the last few years have nailed most of the QB rankings.

This year Mendoza Moore (if declares) and Simpson are the top 3 predicted to go 1st round
You gotta get one in the first!

Fernando is the right choice based on what we know now. Once he hits the NFL, you still don't know what will happen but we gotta give ourselves a shot and he's the best shot IMO.

There aren’t many blue chips in this draft and if he is the best QB u take him..you can’t worry about “oh these qbs aren’t as good as last year or next year”…f[raiders_icon]ck that

He has his weaknesses but pretty much every QB does. But what he does well, he does really well. And he is a high character guy. I value that as well.
Of the QBs taken first over all in recent history, based on how they measured up before their NFL careers, he is a better than Cam Ward, Bryce Young, Kyler Murray, Jared Goff, Jameis Winston, and Bradford.

Newton, Luck, Mayfield, Burrow, Lawrence and Caleb Williams were all better. We all know that how you rank in college does not matter once you are on a pro team, but Mendoza is worthy of being picked first overall.
