Pete might be a genius. Raiders have had plenty of opportunities to tank several times only to stupidly win some meaningless games down the stretch. Pete just may be the first coach to do this successfully to get a solid 1st round pick d QB. Then let the building g begin. 5D chess right?????

Depends on what Mendoza, Simpson and Moore do. All three are bonafide first round talents (though not top 5 overall material but will be drafted as such due to position). Thats actually much better than last year but a far cry from 2024.

Why would Mendoza not be a top 5 pick? Genuinely curious. I don’t see the issues

The defense was ok until it wasn't. I thought Olson had a decent enough game plan. He tried to show some patience with the run game. Execution on the field sucked. Bech made some catches. Olson will never be anything but a QB coach but his background is more aligned with what Pete likes to do.

Bowers has proven if you keep targeting him he will makes plays. He is the best TE in the NFL.

OL is overmatched, that's nothing new. Receiving corps can't get achieve separation or stretch the field. Geno sucks but he doesn't see the field but not that it matters much because aside from Bowers there isn't anyone getting open.

The best we can hope for is that the rookies continue to develope so they can apply what they learn next season. I don't believe it is a forgone conclusion that Coach Pete is gone after the season (unless he says fck this place). But he needs to clean up the coaching staff save the defensive coordinator.

We all want the same result we just have differing opinions on the solutions.

The O line killed any chance of a run game. Jeanty is special.... I truly believe that. He can't do anything when he's mauled as soon as he touches the ball.... yet he still manages to get yards. I feel the same way. It's amazing he has turned in some of the performances that he has. Not only is getting hit behind the line of scrimmage on every rushing attempt. Geno hasn't done a very good job of throwing him into a position to run after the catch. Jeanty has had some drops and his blocking is suspect but provided that he stays healthy he will grow into his role nicely.

I didn't call it quits with Pete until after last week's game against Cleveland. For whatever reason, that was the game that illustrated just how bad this team is. Shadeur f'ing Sanders clowned us for crying out loud. Our O-line was the worst its been in any single game since I don't know when.

Pete hiring his own son was the worst decision I've seen from a Raider HC since... it might be ever. One of the keys to life is not necessarily making the best decisions. Rather, it's more about not doing foreseeably catastrophic bonehead shit; but that's what Pete did.

We saw Al Davis, one of the great legends of the game, lose his touch. Pete's not immune from that either so let's put an end to it when the last game's over.

I hate nepotism so I understand where you are coming from. The true test will be if Pete choses to press on with things damn the results or he adapts.

Al's problem is he refused to adapt and when he did he would not stay the course.

It’s probably still too early to know which of these QB prospects will rise in the draft. Some may stay in school another year as well.

I do think the Raiders desperately need a good QB. But this Oline is atrocious. It needs lots of attention. Assuming Miller and JPJ are back next year, we honestly need a two guards and a RT, assuming JPJ is the center. Almost none of these current players is good enough to be a solid backup or rotational player. The front office needs to add 3 to 4!starters and 3 real backups. No more scrubs, we have loads of those. The defense is another thing that needs a lot of new talent. And Graham has got to go.

Mendoza is a top 3 pick easily.

What I mean is when evaluating players on overall talent entering the draft, he is prpbably not top 5. Talented quarterbacks move up in the draft. For example, Cam Ward probably wasnt even a top 20 talent. Sometimes a qb enters and is considered the top talent regardless of position like Andrew Luck or Trever Lawrence.

What I mean is when evaluating players on overall talent entering the draft, he is prpbably not top 5. Talented quarterbacks move up in the draft. No he was not. The holes in his game were very evident when he was in the PAC12. I am not so sure he would have remained the starter had he stayed at WSU.

I do buy into Mendoza though. He is the real deal.
