Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?

Unread post by RunOverByHubbard »

Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.

At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 2:00 pm Exactly! So are you going to blame every GM for the player not working out? Or more importantly, getting injured? Or off field instances with no prior records? It's ridiculous. There are so many variables that come into play.

I'm not even a Telesco lover or Spytek hater but you guys are being ridiculous with that shit. Talk about reaching SMH. You want to blame him for giving too much money or too much draft compensation, I can agree with that. But not this nonsense.
Why does Mark get the blame for coaching hires? Why does McDaniels/Ziegler get blamed for the moves they made? Why do they get ridiculed for the Adams trade? Is Mark's fault the coaches don't work out? Is it McDaniels and Zieglers fault the moves didn't work out?
If we're using your logic, it falls on the players and not the fault of the front office

It would be EXACTLY like that. Perfect example.

Maxx looks great on a bottom 5 defense. Put him on a defense with dogs (Steelers, Eagles, Browns) and he would look like a scrub.

When you compare him to the Watt and Garretts of the world, the gap is that wide. Hell, I'll even throw in prime Mack. When the team needed their all pro to make a game-changing play. Garrett makes it, Watt makes it, even Mack makes it. Maxx simply does not.

Maxx most certainly has made "the play" and no player ever has ALWAYS made the play and Mack was never close to always either.
Both are about the same in making the play. I do feel Maxx shows up week to week better than Mack did when he was here.

Mack's interception against Carolina in 2016 was the difference in that game. TJ Watt forced 3 fumbles against us last year, single handedly winning the game for his team. Myles Garrett beat a triple team last week to get to the QB.

There are levels, and Maxx is multiple cuts below the others.

no way in hell. In our defense, Namdi was never challenged because on the other side of the field there was low hanging fruit. But Maxx constantly fights and wins vs double teams and still disrupts nonstop. In a better defense, he would feast vs single blocking.

Pass rushers are different than DBs, DBs only have success if the QBs don't throw to their side of the field or if they are truly good. DE's only have success if they are good or go against weak OL on a week in and week out basis. That is not the case with Maxx, he has had success every time out there.

 Rookie Joe Alt with no experience (week 1) stone walled Maxx with no help.

Maxx is overrated, bro.

Most hurries since he's been in the league and Maxx has made late game plays to ice games.
Hurries means you are beating your man.

I don't have a problem saying Watt and Myles are a 1/2 notch better.
But Maxx is equal or better than Mack.

Now sure why some really try to take a great player and make him sound not much more than average.
Yeah everyone else is wrong about Maxx, even the players that vote him in the top 50 each year.

 When did Maxx have a pick 6? When did Maxx get 6 sacks in a game? When did Maxx get 3-4 sacks in a half?

When has Maxx ever been part of a top 10 defense? When has Maxx been on a team that was top 10 against the run? Maxx is always the starter for a bottom 5 defense. Mack has never been a starter for a bottom 5 defense.

 Khalil Mack has taken his teams to the playoffs half his career. Maxx has only been to the playoffs once in his career.

 You're delusional if you think Maxx and Mack are equal in any way. If Mack were still a Raider and we had both him and Maxx on the same team, NO ONE would argue Maxx is better than Mack. This is clearly team bias.

You'd think if one were even better than Maxx no one in the right mind would want to let go of said player, not once but twice.

Again grown ass men here acting like they're on a schoolyard still over hyperbolizing often in comments and coming up with extreme over the top ideas that if were acted upon would really take the team to new laughingstock levels. But hey it's not you that's in the crosshairs so let'r rip! We all appreciate bosses and organizations that act wildly, really makes you want to be there and go all out.

I think NA21 was a great corner and QB’s avoided challenging him.

This class is being talked about as one of the strongest in recent years but i guess you know better & we’re not even half way through the season yet

Maxx doesn’t move the needle, we all love Maxx but moving him on would give us the chance to improve the team going forward. Moving Mack was the right move we just use the pick right
This class is being talked about being the strongest is bullshit because most if not all of the underclassmen will not declare which leaves a handful of seniors who have not lived up to hype.

Oh and I know one thing , you sure as f[raiders_icon]ck don't know any better

BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:54 pm Oh bullshit. I'd love to see your comments when we signed Wilkins. I highly doubt you were against it hypocrite. It is absolutely moronic to place any blame on Telesco like he knew what was going to transpire. His goal was to improve the team and EVERYONE on this forum was for that signing. That's almost as dumb as statement as blaming the staff for a player getting injured.
It matters not how I felt about it, I'm a fan. I don't work for the raiders and I can't sign him blues clue.

How would I know of Wilkins shenanigans in college or the pros? Telesco was the GM, it's up to him to green light the signing. You would have to be the most naive and/or biggest simpleton fan of football not to think that every GM and coach in the league doesn't know what is happening to a player like Wilkins. Players and coaches talk, you don't keep stuff like that under wraps.

Attyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:47 am Here is where the GM arguments really get muddled. How many moves did they not make that they had the opportunity to make and it backfired. We rarely hear about those, Gruden passing on Brady being one of the few times you actually get a bit of the insider view. GMs miss on draft picks all the time, that is not new or surprising. They also miss on FA signings. Tons of those are out there as well. But what about the times a FA is on the radar and the GM declines and that FA blows up, or they are about to draft a player and last minute the GM goes another way and that pick turns out to be a monster. We never hear about those but that has to happen more often than we know about.

Telesco was a solid GM for his one year, but his most glaring error was endorsing Pierce. And that error stands out as HUGE in my opinion.
