Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Lmao. Do your research before making a statement like that.

Here is where the GM arguments really get muddled. How many moves did they not make that they had the opportunity to make and it backfired. We rarely hear about those, Gruden passing on Brady being one of the few times you actually get a bit of the insider view. GMs miss on draft picks all the time, that is not new or surprising. They also miss on FA signings. Tons of those are out there as well. But what about the times a FA is on the radar and the GM declines and that FA blows up, or they are about to draft a player and last minute the GM goes another way and that pick turns out to be a monster. We never hear about those but that has to happen more often than we know about.
Telesco was a solid GM for his one year, but his most glaring error was endorsing Pierce. And that error stands out as HUGE in my opinion.

Ehhh....my opinion is if you're gonna bash a gm (Ziegler) for a guy going losing his mind, you can do the same for a player going freak mode in thr locker room and not taking rehab from an injury serious enough. Telesco signed a nut job just as Zeigler & zGrudock did with Antonio when they traded for him. Telesco also either chose or was on board with AP being retained as hc so his decisions weren't exactly head and shoulders above any other gm we've had
Again, we have not won a playoff game since 2002. 23 years. Ironically this was the last time we won the division. No player on this team is untradeable. We need a multitude of players, and the only way to do that is in the draft and trading players for more payers and picks. Lets say we hang on to Max who we all love, yet still the same ol 4- or 5 win seasons. We gotta shake it up, and get better players on both sides of the ball.

He gonna request a trade next offseason...Book It!SkullCrusher wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:21 am This site is great for a fair critical look at the Raiders, where reddit is much more cheerful. I've noticed the "trade Maxx" topic hasn't come up there in the past few days. There is one topic of when does Maxx get pissed and asks for a trade? The other side of initiation.

Overrated compared to his peers (top 5 EDGES).
When you compare him to the Watt and Garretts of the world, the gap is that wide. Hell, I'll even throw in prime Mack. When the team needed their all pro to make a game-changing play. Garrett makes it, Watt makes it, even Mack makes it. Maxx simply does not.
I've never looked at him the same ever since he cupped that Matthew Stafford duck in both of his hands, palmed the ball, and then throwing it on the ground instead of getting the easiest interception of his life. That showed me that his mentality is to be a stat padder, not a game-wrecker.
Washington with their backup QB doesn't get more "winnable" than that.haji81872 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:12 pm Other than that we are 1-2 with a bunch of winnable games ahead of us.
Chicago is a much tougher opponent.
Pierce was smart enough to put JPJ at center.Attyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:47 am Telesco was a solid GM for his one year, but his most glaring error was endorsing Pierce. And that error stands out as HUGE in my opinion.

It falls on Telesco.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:01 am How the fck is Wikins trying to play twiddly dinks with dudes in the locker room Telesco's fault? The signing was considered a win by everyone at the time.
He's the man. As the GM he's the guy who is running the ship and made the trade to argue otherwise is ridiculous. Also word gets around. There is no way no how every team in the league including ours didn't know of his shenanigans and what was going on in Miami with him. Players and coaches talk to each other. They have friends on other teams play games with them on line they are on one team one year and another the next.
You can't keep a lid on what he was all about and it was for sure going all the way back to his college days. Thing is with all that talent Miami took a chance on him in the draft as Telesco took a chance on him in free agency. Looks to all the world now that no team is biting because two teams now have been burnt. This really isn't that difficult to understand. lol.

Exactly. There is no way you keep a rap on that kind of stuff. Common sense and logic.heavyD wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:18 am Where is he now and who and signed him? It wasn’t exactly a secret that Wilkins was a freak.

how is he overrated vs his peers? He is not a current peer of Watt or a prime Mack. He is not typically rated higher than Garrett? How is he overrated? And your blanket statement that Maxx does not make those plays is patently false. While he might not make the sack his disruption of plays and his relentless motor have had their impact on games. But you throw out players who also have far better teammates, especially on the line who take pressure away from them.mranquales wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:39 pm Overrated compared to his peers (top 5 EDGES).

And then you point to one play and make the claim that he is a stat padder? How is that being overrated. He makes the plays he can make. That is not overrated, that is doing your job. Every player ever has had a play that is questionable. That does not define them, nor should it. You do this quite often, you see what you want to see due to one or two plays and then justify a whole line of flawed reasoning based on it.

Every bad UFA signing in the history of the NFL was made with the intention of improving the team.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:54 pm Oh bullshit. I'd love to see your comments when we signed Wilkins. I highly doubt you were against it hypocrite. It is absolutely moronic to place any blame on Telesco like he knew what was going to transpire. His goal was to improve the team and EVERYONE on this forum was for that signing. That's almost as dumb as statement as blaming the staff for a player getting injured.

Exactly! So are you going to blame every GM for the player not working out? Or more importantly, getting injured? Or off field instances with no prior records? It's ridiculous. There are so many variables that come into play.heavyD wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:57 pm Every bad UFA signing in the history of the NFL was made with the intention of improving the team.
I'm not even a Telesco lover or Spytek hater but you guys are being ridiculous with that shit. Talk about reaching SMH. You want to blame him for giving too much money or too much draft compensation, I can agree with that. But not this nonsense.

I wonder if Maxx on another team would be another NA21? Was great with the Raiders but looked lost in Philly. Maybe it was the scheme Philly used?Attyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 3:10 am how is Maxx overrated? He is our best defensive player and that is what everyone says. When a thing is true, that is it, people are speaking the truth. He has been an All Pro twice, and is on a trajectory to be our all time sack leader.
That is not being overrated.
