Are we forgetting that Geno played for the team that Darnold plays for now? With that team Geno led the league in INT, and took 50 sacks, while Seattle decided he wasn’t worth the extension he wanted and basically paid Darnold what it would have taken to keep Geno.

The smarter franchise chose Darnold. The perpetual losers who’ve gone with Carr, Garoppolo, and Gardnew Minshew, chose Geno. We’ll certainly see it Seattle made the right choice by comparing what Darnold does this year vs what Geno gave them last year. I suspect they made the right choice, while the Raiders keep doing Raider things.

Hopefully we draft a QB next year.
Neither was the right decision but Geno’s consistent form over the last few years was the better option, let’s not re-write history

With our OL it doesn’t matter who is back there at QB or RB

In other words the definition of insanity: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different outcomes.”

There was a different OC in Seattle last yr, not sure about any of the other staff. I didn't and still don't want either qb as they both are Jags imo

Geno could be frustrating to watch in Seattle. He showed many of the negative attributes that infuriated us with Carr's QB play. I dunno, sometimes a player needs a change of scenery. Coach Pete wanted him and he had coached him for five seasons. Of course Dennis Allen wanted Derek Carr in New Orleans.

It's early but considering how poor his pass blocking has been I am not sure how anyone could be successful.

Geno had one fluke year and since then hasn't been better than average.

A 21-15 TD-INT ratio is telling. For some reason, this franchise can't figure out that if a QB-hungry league drops a guy; buyer beware.

I’m pretty happy with the Geno trade so far as it only cost them a 3rd round pick and while he’s not been perfect, he’s been fine considering the disaster that is the OL. Remember the Raiders were prepared to trade what likely with have been a 1st round pick for Stafford with a bad back. It’s very likely Stafford’s season would be already over behind this offensive line as sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.

Klint Kubiak is likely going to be an NFL head coach one day and his hiring was more important than the Darnold signing. Remember Carr was lighting things up for the Saints in the Kubiak offense before he got banged up. He’s the guy the Raiders should have hired instead of Kelly but Raiders are always going to do Raiders things.

Debunked what? Are you saying Geno is a better than average QB? Bc that would be false.

He’s a 25-10 guy, not a 20-15 guy.

If he was as bad as some of you make him sound, you wouldn’t need to embellish his stats to make them look worse.

He threw 21 TDs and 15 Ints last year. That's what the OP was saying. Don't make shit up.

LayneStaley wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 4:52 pm So this is just the shit on Geno thread without giving any particular reasons why he might be bad? I need to go to oline thread to talk about that? Do I need to go to the Jeanty thread to shit on him? He looks like a fat bust right now. Or does he get the benefit of the Oline excuse?

All the people freaking out need to relax, it’s week 3.
No one else gets cut any slack. Tyree Wilson was being called a bust by week 3 of his rookie year. Minshew and O'Connell were getting torn up after their first losses. AND the O-line was shitty.

"Don't freak out!" Sure thing. It's only been being right about how shitty this team is for the last 2+ decades. Let's give 'em the benefit of the doubt this time and cut Geno Smith extra slack because.... ???

Cannot compare Geno in Seattle to Vegas. He had a lot of time to do what he did there and had a vastly better line. He has had 3 games here and our line has been really bad. Geno is not a world beater but he is better than anything we have had in a long time. He is just getting his feet under him and dealing with a line that is shabby. He is also dealing with an OC who does not match up well with his skill set.
