The talent level on Indiana is not that high he has raised the level of the offensive line, running game and wide receivers. If you watched him at Cal you would know he absolutely carried that team on his back. He also has shown up clutch in every big game.Rdrfan1964 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:04 pm Mendoza plays on the #1 college team in the nation. Good O line, running game, receivers, great defense good coaching never had to put a team on his back to carry just saying! Hate the term "franchise" the majority of 1st round picks never throw for 4000 yards, don't get re-signed after the rookie contract. Sign him but don't push. Keep O'Connell at this point Geno and Pickett? --Adios!

Indiana getting the highly regarded transfer is fantastic news. That's the biggest indicator Mendoze is going to declare.

That's an interesting take. I don't follow college football all that much but I do read a bit from other reputable sites that are in the know about it. It is still way early in the process but I haven't seen one sight yet that has any other Indiana player rated very high or a bunch of players from that school. I see a lot of players currently they expect to go in the top 100 from schools such as Alabama, Ohio st., Oregon, Clemson, LSU, and Miami but only a couple of players expected to go later that are from Indiana.Rdrfan1964 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:04 pm Mendoza plays on the #1 college team in the nation. If AOC had the best line he wpuld be a baller but we have nothing close to it so to the bench he goes for FM 15Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 1:14 pm I wanna see O'Connell start the first month or so. Let's see what we have at O-line before sending him out there to get destroyed. Let him learn the system, whatever it's going to be, how to read defenses to a better degree, and let him see the game in real time/speed.
It's the norm now to throw rook QBs to the wolves, but that doesn't mean it's always the right thing to do.
The FO can do this the stupid way or the smart way. Let's hope they break the pattern of complete stupidity.

He's got cement feet. He needs a perfect line.RenoRaiders75 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 6:03 pm If AOC had the best line he wpuld be a baller but we have nothing close to it so to the bench he goes for FM 15

Only twice in modern NFL History (before this year), have 4 teams finished with 3 or less wins (those were all 16 game season). This season was pretty much unprecedented in tank competition, yet we came out on top.
We deserved this so much. We really did it guys, we withstood one of the worst seasons in Raiders history and now have the chance to land a franchise QB. He might not end up being that, but there's a decent chance he does, and nobody deserves it more than us. Enjoy it, it's the only thing we've had to enjoy in a very long time.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 13):

We also have a good shot at a HC with those candidates knowing who the QB will be.

The perfect line for AOC would be the best oline in history, with the 2 best blocking TEs in history, and the defense has to call out 10 Mississippies before crossing the LOS.

Why would we move on from AOC? He’s on a rookie scale contract, costs next to nothing and has shown he can start and the team can win a game. He’s nothing special but he’s certain ok to retain as a backup.Attyla wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 9:58 am I don't think any of the QBs on the roster will be here next year

I think that would be the perfect line for any QB, really.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 6:44 pm The perfect line for AOC would be the best oline in history, with the 2 best blocking TEs in history, and the defense has to call out 10 Mississippies before crossing the LOS.

People are acting as if O'Connell didn't just win the game. As if he doesn't have one of the best win percentages in franchise history.
