Yeah but that last game winning drive under two minutes to go on the road with no timeouts, in a hostile environment vs a stout defense, is what 1st round picks are made of—It’s exactly what I wanted to see out of him.

Indiana has played one decent team all year...they will be out early in the playoffs!!

I came in here to ask if I’m the only one who thinks Mendoza is wildly overrated but some of the comments suggest I am not.

I’ve only watched a few games but I haven’t seen anything to justify the hype. The experts keep saying he has a fast release but all I see his him pat the ball and telegraph the throw.

Agreed, and today was no exception to the notion that they are anywhere near where they are ranked

I do not think he is overrated. I think the position forces evaluators to give out inflated ratings due to how important the position is. Cam Ward is a perfect example of this. He should never have been drafted as a number one player but because teams need a QB so badly they artificially move these guys up. Mendoza will likely go #1 in the draft but at the next level he is a better Cam Ward. In contrast, Bo Nix who was underrated is thriving, well, he had a bad game, but underrated. And coaching matters as well. Ward is being coached poorly, Nix has a great QB oriented coach.

Bottom line is, right now, Mendoza should be about the 10th player in the draft but his position is forcing him to be #1.

It cracks me up that some of the talking heads think Ind. should be ranked #1 over Ohio State.

So if we get the number one overall pick we dont draft a QB. Next year's crop looks no better. So maybe we try in three years?
