Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide

Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

He complimented Brennans beard in training camp ensuring him a season long roster spot.

I definitely disagree. Allgeier is a limited athlete. Pacheco it comes down to whether he can recover from that leg injury and show what makes him special. He was a 4.3 guy before that, was probably in a rough situation last year where KC was struggling. He should be a similar price to Allgeier and has way more ability to blow up any given play.

The mere fact that Pacheco is always injured makes the choice a no-brainer.

Forget about a runningback; gotta build the trenches first; if you got no blockers what the point in spending money on backup runningbacks

There is this new invention called multitasking. Teams can actually do several things at the same time. And the amount of money we are talking about is cheap and you need a backup that can actually backup your guy

Yeah but I rather have the raiders spend more money on offensive line than anything else….raiders got maybe one player that is a starter; and that Miller….they might have something in JPJ; but he has been with the raiders for two season and spent quite a bit of time injured…thinking the raiders will have overspend on at least two offensive players in the free agency; Which is going cost

I know we have cap space but we do have a number of holes to fill so splashing out on big options like the Linderbaum might not be the best idea although if it happen i wont argue having him

Would spreading around that cap space not be a better idea meaning we’d be bringing in guys who although they might be a level below are still really good play

Off the bat Cade Mays, Tevan Jenkins & Rashid Shaheed are three i like that i think that could be had for the price you’d pay for Linderbaum/Pierce sometimes less is more

I still think we need to bring back Eric Stokes at CB plus add a ball hawking FS & Andre Cisco comes to mind after a down year with the Jets maybe we could get a lower than expected deal done

I dont want to see a Chinn/Pola-Mao safety combo ever again it should be either or not both

If we are going to spend big on one piece then LB for me would be where we should do it i’d be all for bring back Devin White & pairing him with Devin Lloyd although Bush, Dean or Chanel wouldn't be bad options either

You have to have competent backups at every position. White and Mostert are horrible options. I would rather ditch those two and get one or two cheap options as backups for Jeanty. That is how a NFL team operates and that is how we should as well. We are not going to miss out on a lineman because we sign a cheap backup RB, trust me on that.

I think we will pick up a cheap backup in free agency and draft a late round RB as well. White and mostert are both free agents if I'm not mistaken. That leaves just Jeanty laube and Collier on the roster. We definitely need at least 1 preferably 2

Allgeier played in the zone blocking scheme in Atlanta. He's underrated and would be a great signing for the right price. White and Laube need to be gone. Mostert actually has some juice and has proven well in the zone scheme, but he's getting older for a back. You can sign a back and draft one late.. the need is going to be there. Injuries can happen at any time, and Kubiak likes to run the rock. It's going to be a rookie QB so having a stacked RB room is a need. Upgrading the oline is a given. Signing a back in FA at the right price range isn't going to stop you from making moves other places

Cutting Geno & Cappa nets another 12 mil in cap space. That puts the Raiders over 100. If Maxx is traded that's another 31 million. Already a lot of cap as is with 6 picks in the first 4 rounds. Defense is more hard up than the offense talent wise. The offense needs certain upgrades to assist in properly ushering in the #1 pick QB

It just seems some want to focus on one thing and I want us to focus on fleshing out a complete team.
Backups are important.

We have plenty of backups in starter roles now. We need to focus on getting starters. I dont want to see the terms 'depth' or 'upside' used one time in FA or the early part of our draft. Enough of that nonsense.
