Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

I agree but it’s possible a little more. Maybe 2 years at 5 mil and it’d be worth it to me.Attyla wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2026 4:00 pm I see 2M as his top level salary. Ugly yards is a good thing. But he does average over 3 yards per carry.

Pacheco is an angry runner. I like angry runnersNoThanksSir wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 5:04 am If we're looking for a cheap compliment to Jeanty, I'd love to kick the tires on Pacheco. He'll be another year removed from that fibula injury, is still young, and hopefully wouldn't cost too much. I feel like his speed and skillset would benefit from all of the outside zone runs Kubiak likes so much.

^^^Nobody said he was an all-pro...it was about "kicking tires on a cheap compliment to Jeanty".
Pacheco is a solid RB who is also good as a receiver out of the backfield...and he would be "cheap".

Ideally Jeanty is getting the lion's share of the carries. I'd hope his backup is a 1B type who has the speed to operate in split zone blocks, the hands to be a threat on 3rd down, and the ability to break tackles in short yardage situations. There's some solid options out there honestly. I just think with Jeanty's workload you want more of a generalist who can spell him when he's tired and not change the gameplan. I'd even consider bringing Mattison back, I think he's a solid backup. Allgeier offers little upside for me in this scheme, and doesn't really offset any of Jeanty's weaknesses in the passing game. I'm not sure what his price will be, but with all the cap we have we should probably spend the extra 2-3 mill and get a legitimate backup who can threaten defenses when Jeanty isn't on the field. Gruden had this problem with Jacobs, we lacked a backup so when Jacobs wasn't on the field he called the offense differently. I'm skeptical Kubiak hamstrings himself in a similar way. Whether it's a vet or a middle-late round rookie, we need a fresh pair of legs behind Jeanty.

Nothing against Pacheco, but I think we need that bulldozer who can get us those first downs in short yard situations. I would prefer that Jeanty does not do this so we keep him fresh and maybe even avoid injuries (piggy backing). Allgeier is the perfect compliment to Jeanty. He is a f[raiders_icon]cking beast and is very successful on those short yard situations. This is really a PREMIUM in todays game when the entire stadium knows its a running play. As someone pointed out, I would not spend crazy money on him. If we could get him on a reasonable contract, it would be a major coup for us.

I think the next RB we get needs to excel at blocking and running between the tackles. Considering Kubiak's scheme relying heavily on deception and play action, having a secondary RB who can actually be a real threat up the middle will be huge on selling the play action.

I hear you, but the first time Allgeier doesn't break a tackle on a 2nd and 1 you're gonna be cursing that Jeanty wasn't in. If I need a few yards I'm only trusting Jeanty, and I don't want a slow power back to fill that role for him. Ideally Jeanty is getting 2/3 of the snaps and the guy backing him up can play on 3rd down. Allgeier wouldn't be a viable 3rd down back.RI RAIDER wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 11:57 am Nothing against Pacheco, but I think we need that bulldozer who can get us those first downs in short yard situations. I am not arguing with what your saying. However, one quarter of Allgeiers runs have resulted in first downs. Additionally, he has zero fumbles which is very impressive. I think he will get more than some think. Falcons fans love the kid. It may be a moot point because apparently he wants to start.NoThanksSir wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 12:09 pm I hear you, but the first time Allgeier doesn't break a tackle on a 2nd and 1 you're gonna be cursing that Jeanty wasn't in. Totally fair. Wouldn't be my preference since I want Jeanty's backup to have slightly better hands, but as long as the price is right I won't complain. Anything will be better than another year of Zamir WhiteRI RAIDER wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 12:15 pm I am not arguing with what your saying. If there an NFL player who should rethink their career selection more than White I am at a loss to name him or her.NoThanksSir wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 12:18 pm Totally fair. Allgeiers>Pacheco, but I don't think you get him at 3 mil per. If Jeanty gets injured Allgeiers can carry the load. Hopefully Laube has seen his last day in a Raider uniform!

Laube brings nothing. His ST play is pathetic and that's all he has. Waste of a roster spotpfish57 wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 2:14 pm Allgeiers>Pacheco, but I don't think you get him at 3 mil per. Hopefully Laube has seen his last day in a Raider uniform!
