Fire Pete Carroll
I didn't see a thread yet, I wanted Pete to be able to stay a few years to rebuild us back, but it is clear to me that he is clueless on how to fix what is broken. We have made the same mistakes every week, with no corrections. He has to go! Thoughts?

Still so he built a playoff team. And yes those blunders played a role in building a winning program. I won't argue that.Hellbound wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:52 pm Conveniently left out all of his personel blunders and the team in Tampa that he ran into the ground
I'm saying give Pete a chance.
He came in not knowing one player.
Can we trust that Pete has identified the player persomnel problems and or weak positions?
I do.

Definitely Mendoza is the big draw (knock on wood we don’t mess it up). I’d say cap situation is another big one in tandem with that. Mainly, tons of space + a rookie QB + no major impending free agents.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:33 am Correct. That's going to be the only selling point. The #1 pick. But there should be plenty of young offensive minded coaches that will want to work with a high character guy like Mendoza.
We have lots of holes but you’re coming here with an inside track towards a QBOTF and carte blanche in free agency. If we do it right… this should be a fairly similar situation to the bears.

Yep, good point about the salary cap space. That helps as well.raiders93 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:04 pm Definitely Mendoza is the big draw (knock on wood we don’t mess it up). We on this message board know what the weak positions and personel problems are. I would hope a hc could figure that outKillerRaider30 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:00 pm Still so he built a playoff team. And yes those blunders played a role in building a winning program. I won't argue that.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said he doubts that Pete Carroll will be the Raiders head coach in 2026.
It’s sort of jammed in to the end of a Bluesky video about the Raiders future, but Rapoport brings up the idea of Fernando Mendoza being the future of the franchise should they finish their tank successfully against the Chiefs and says “We’ll see if Pete Carroll is there for it, I doubt it, but we’ll see.” It would be hard to blame the Raiders for pulling the plug after this disastrous season, but Carroll would be their second-straight one-and-done head coach.

Contact Corleonethe best thing this org has going for it is this upcoming draft class, among the list of Pete faults this year, was his use of the rookies. There's zero chance you can trust Pete to coach these young players next year.
Plus, with Mendoza at QB, with Bowers and Jeanty and most cap space in the league, this job becomes a lot more enticing than it's ever been. We can get a legit candidate this time, not settle for the oldest coach in NFL history and his two sons.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 4):

Even if he were still a good coach, the biggest issue with Pete would be time. He'll be 75 years old next season. Let's say they commit to giving him a few years to iron things out, it's not like that investment will have a 10 year payoff.
Need to bring in a young rockstar style coach. Hopefully the top QB in the draft, Jeanty, Bowers, Maxx, a shit ton of cap space, and a clean slate is a big enough draw to snag someone legitimate.
Have to absolutely nail the head coach pick this time. If a Ben Johnson type guy is available, can't let them leave the building.

Yes, the #1 weak spot and Pete's going to draft him this year.Hellbound wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:10 pm We on this message board know what the weak positions and personel problems are. I would hope a hc could figure that out

Nah, the game passed Pete by. It's obvious. I don't think it matters how much time he has. Plus his arrogance and stubbornness. Those are the biggest issues IMO.Arsenal Raider wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:23 pm The biggest issue with Pete is time. He'll be 75 years old next season. I hate having another one and done, but no way Pete Carroll is the man to do a rebuild with a rookie QB. We need a modern offensive mind and preferably someone who will be picked by Spytek. We need a proper personnel hierarchy and not one of Mark Davis' PF Changs hack jobs. We need someone who will work in tandem with the GM and give young players playing time and develop them
And no to nepotism please.

Definitely, I agree. I wrote that poorly, the way it reads emphasizes the wrong point.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:30 pm Nah, the game passed Pete by. It's obvious. I don't think it matters how much time he has. Plus his arrogance and stubbornness. Those are the biggest issues IMO.

Would a top player want to come to The Raiders knowing that there would a complete new system in 2027? Carroll has to go and a Head Coach brought in that can grow with the QB. That is the ONLY option.

Odds on favorite?
Joe Brady, OC of the Bills.
Klint Kubiak or Minter are the next most likely IMO. But Brady? I suspect he is on the short list if he wants it.

The only thing worse than hiring Brady would be retaining Pete. No F'n thanks to that.Willmark wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 3:28 pm Odds on favorite?
