Never a fan of the team. Liked Ozzie Newsome as a personnel guy, he knows his stuff....But there is a heightened level on my part to hope they win just enough games to crap on their next draft but not enough games so that they are relevant. I want the best of all worlds.

This makes more sense now. I guess they dont have a private plane after all if they had to get him one. On the trip to Baltimore, there probably werent enough 1st class tickets on the direct flights to Baltimore, hence they flew him in to DC instead, which is less than an hour's drive from Baltimore. Obviously their first choice was Hendrikson all along and were negotiating with LV as a backup plan. The contract talks with Hendrikson must have been at an impasse and Bal decided to move on to plan B. The trade was announced and Crosby was on his way to Bal. Hendrikson's agent came crawling back at the last second and Bal got the concession they wanted.

Baltimore's GM did the smart thing. Failing him was the way out and perfectly legal.
He failed his physical and everything else is speculation thats turns to drama. End of story.
Will his knee injury effect his play?
Thats still tbd and is Kinda important..

Baltimore-
Does Maxx put us over the top to contend for a SB?
My take? No he doesn't

Maxx is currently on a 2y 65M fully guaranteed contract and 29 yo with a knee problem.
Will he live out his contract?
Baltimore here needs him to live out the 4 years. They gave up 2 number 1s.
So big question mark.
This move gets the GM fired if it backfires btw.

Lamar is 29yo and has had a host of nagging injuries missing 17 games in 8 years.
2025 4 games missed
2024 0 games
2023 1 game
2022 6 games
2021 5 games
2020 1 game
2019 1 game

Its anyone's guess. 0 games to 6.
Add they lost thier Center and that doesn't help Lamar stay upright.

They have a new HC.
Learning time Lamar.
Lamar's play dropped last season.

Baltimore almost pulled of a Raider trade. A declining 8-9 team trading future draft assets.

If the GM is even smarter he'd trade Lamar mid-season to a playoff contender for 2 #1s.
6-11 gets you in the top 10 in a QB heavy 2027 draft.
Trading Lamar to a QB needed team gives them 4 1s and boatload of $$$.

The Maxx trade is a terrible move for Baltimore's future team's and getting out of it may have saved someone's job.

^ I had a similar thought at the time. When Maxx was traded to Baltimore, it was a little confusing because it takes a very generous interpretation of the facts to consider Baltimore a win-now team. They’re not totally doomed, they have some exciting pieces on paper, but they aren’t a “pass rusher away” type of team either.

If Baltimore actually intended to make the trade, it was a fairly gross miscalculation. It almost certainly would have backfired. I’m also on the F Baltimore bandwagon, but even as a newly-minted Baltimore hater I have to admit they are a well-run organization. They rarely make mistakes like the one you’re describing, and I generally agree with your assessment.

Ergo, another piece of anecdotal evidence that the trade was never made in good faith and was strictly a way to control the pass rush market in their favor

Maybe? Would’ve been a nasty defense, no doubt about that. And with Minter, maybe they surprise the same way Seattle did this year? Most didn’t even have Seattle winning the division coming into the season, maybe the ravens were thinking they could pull a similar stunt within the next year or two?

But to me, they’re missing a lot of what made Seattle work offensively. Their OL just took a huge blow, their weapons have never been spectacular, and Lamar is a magician-type QB with injury concerns.

Can they afford the luxury of two premier DEs when their OL has regressed and limited resources to fix it (significantly lessened cap and draft capital)?

Hard to imagine Maxx as more valuable to their pseudo-rebuild than two first rounders, with or without Trey

I think the Ravens (with or without Max) are on the downswing. This is why I was upset about this trade falling apart. We obviously fleeced them with the trade (well done Spy). Not only did it take away the chance of getting a franchise OG this season (Vega), but it also took our pick away next season. I was betting that the Ravens may have had an even better pick next year. Couple that with the amount of QB's who may be drafted very high, and we could have potentially gotten the #1 ranked player at several positions.

I bet one of the seats still smelt of Hendrickson’s ass.

:hypnotized:

All there in black and white. The private jet wasn’t available for Maxx because Baltimore was using it to bring Hendrickson. When the jet was available for Maxx, it just so happens that Hendrickson was there in Baltimore. He was meeting all the FO and signing papers while Maxx was basically in a doctor’s waiting room.

Ravens, too cheap to pay for 2 jets and too Janus-faced to be straight with Maxx, the league, the world. f[raiders_icon]ck Balt.

Pretty much spot on in my book. This team has been successful, in part, because they aren't stupid. They are sharks. And slimy sharks at that...
