Other than qb where has this team improved from a year ago? One reason the team hasn’t gotten destroyed more often is Kirk has done a much better job of taking care of the football than our qbs in previous years. With Geno we might have seen 2 or 3 int’s. With Minshew it’s probably an int and a fumble or two. Kirk is less mobile than those guys and moves like a statue out there but he gets the most out of his (limited) abilities.

I wonder how Tom Brady in his prime would do on this team. Did he ever play in a situation this difficult for a qb? Would he make the playoffs? I think even for him playing with so little help would be a major challenge.

I think KC has done a really good job, but let's don't fool ourselves he will never take us to the post season, and with that said it's time to move on and see what the future holds.Steve007 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 6:16 pm Other than qb where has this team improved from a year ago? People talk about needing a #1 receiver but at this point I would settle for a receiver that makes at least some plays and at least poses a little bit of a threat out there. Besides Tucker the most we got out of a wideout was Nailor with 14 yards.

100% All of this.raiders93 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 5:42 pm First thing you notice is the difference in line play. Every time they ran the ball the RB has 3 yards to pick a lane. We run the ball and half the D-line is in the backfield.
Offensively, it looks like we’ve been figured out. Stop the run, bracket bowers, play tight on everything else. Tucker might burn you once or twice but that’s about it. And you can pretty well have your entire defence with their back to Kirk and still have zero risk of him hurting you with his legs.
Defensively…. It just looks so vanilla. Maxx is getting doubled almost constantly. The interior rush is almost non existent. The secondary is awful.
Just an ugly game. I’d say the jets were a game I had pencilled in for a win but now… not so sure.

Maybe Mendoza should get a look. There is an old adage that you start the QB that gives you the best chance to win. Cousins has exceeded expectations however you don't know what you have in Mendoza until you play him. Obviously Kubiak knows best but Mendoza is a more mobile QB and can make throws Cousins cannot. Until the film catches up with Mendoza he will be difficult to game plan against.
Cousins is Cap Rooney, Mendoza is more polished Willie Beamon.

Honestly that’s a pretty fair assessment though I also add Kubiak into the equation. Offensively we had the 32nd ranked offence last year, this year it’s 6th. And to your point, Kirk and Linderbaum are really the only meaningful changes.Steve007 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 6:16 pm Other than qb where has this team improved from a year ago? I give Kubiak (and Kirk) a lot of credit for that. Personnel wise it’s so far from ideal and nevertheless, they’ve been better than they really have any business being.
Defence has been an absolute disappointment. Save for a few games against bad teams where we had some turnovers… they’ve been horrible. Over the last 3 games we’ve forced 7 punts…. And allowed 19 scoring drives (14 touchdowns).
If I’m looking for positives: Kubiak’s offence once he has better personnel (Mendoza and a #1 receiver) is going to be really, really good.
The downside is this defence looks f[raiders_icon]cked and honestly on paper, it shouldn’t be this bad.

Kubiak is not going anywhere. I'm going to give him time to get his guys in the building, it's not an overnight process. He's not inept, just overwhelmed when it comes to teams that are upper echelon. The players like him, and he's not throwing inept family members to position coach. The game had not passed him by or is he unwilling to adapt to player strengths. We need to come out of our comfort zone and give a coach a chance, not named Gruden, to evolve and build a competitive team. Kubiak is learning just like everyone else.Willmark wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 4:46 pm 1. This was an uneven at best performance on both sides of the ball, and the Offense and the Defense did not look ready to play the entire first half.
2. Kubiak. I want him as coach, he's got a good offensive mind. At the same time opening the game with run up the gut? And then on (nearly) every offensive possession running right up the middle isn't helping matters. I get he wants to establish the run, but when its not there and he keeps forcing it?
3. Nailor, what a disappointment. He's barely out there and when he is he can't hold on.
4. Burford. Holy crap is he bad. He was getting man-handled out there.
IMO lots of issues but at the same time there are glimpses of what Kubiak wants to accomplish. Add to this and Vilma said it on the broadcast: our schedule is not doing us any favors and really wont for the rest of the year. There is nothing we can do about that and play hard.
In general? Not happy about the loss. I suspect we're all in the same boat with that. I don't know what to make of today, right from the first snap they were off.
Also, he is the guy you want for your young QB. Kubiak is taking his lumps right now, and no disrespect to Kurt, he's playing as best he can for the hand he's been dealt, but it's getting closer to the time Mendoza start taking his lumps and learning and evolving too.

People can bag on the defense all they want but what looked like a potential route got competitive by the end of the 3rd quarter, thanks in large part to the defense.

Let’s be real… This was never a playoff team and we all got a little excited about beating bad teams. But this is still an improved team overall that has shown flashes.
I’m still happy with 6-8 wins and hopes of continuing to gel down the stretch.
Defense has what, 8 new starters and a new DC?
Completely new offensive schemes.
Anyone realistic knows this team is 1-2 really good drafts away from being in the playoff discussion.
Need a nose tackle, and another impact edge.
Secondary is crazy young.
Obviously need 1 more LB since 44 and 55 were out there today.
OL is bad…
Need another impact WR. I think Tucker and Bech will be just fine #2 and #3.
People calling for Mark and Spytek’s heads already is kinda silly.
I feel like we have to go Mendoza after the bye.

Oh no our young secondary got schooled by mcvay/stafford. The biggest issue is and has been the inability to stop the run. That’s personnel more than scheme.
Tackling is fundamental. Guys have been doing it since pop warner. The fact they don’t do it in a pro game is again personnel and not on coaching.

At times we look good and do some good things, but at other times we look like a team that was the worst in the league last year. Year one of a rebuild.

Kubiak is our guy. I believe Mendoza is our guy. I think the sooner they get to start working together the better.
I guess Kubiak just doesn't feel that way yet.
