No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

The Packers are crazy unless they win it all. I have my doubts about Jordan Love taking them to the super bowl. Micah is a great player but thats a little too much of a salary cap hit in my opinion.

Seems like salary expectations are far outpacing cap increases. 47 MM AAV for an edge. 55 MM AAV for QB. Doesnt seem sustainable. Two players accounting for about 38% of the cap.

This isn't much different than the Mack trade to the Bears. Clark is a good player but the Packers win the trade easily by getting the best player in the trade and arguably the best defender in the league. Exciting day for Packers fans.

That's were I am at.NoThanksSir wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 5:53 pm Huge swing for the Packers. Jordan Love is trending up but is still unproven. If Love takes the next step this could get them over the hump. If he doesn't someone's getting fired.
They see what the eagles did with a decent QB and to me that is all Love is. Thing is, they don't have a Saquon Barkley to hand the ball off to on there team. Josh Jacobs is no Saquon Barkley by any stretch of the imagination. I would also contend that even with the addition of Parsons, that the eagles have a better defense.

The key word here is trade and for me it's important to compartmentalize whom and what position you are trading for. I'm of the opinion that if you sign a player in FA and they get injured it's one thing, to give up two first and a reliable DT and make the guy you are trading for who is not a QB one of the highest paid defensive players in the league and he gets injured then that is quite another.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:44 pmThe injury thing we can say about anyone in the league after any big time trade.
The moment I heard of this trade my first thought is LaFleur is trying to stay relevant in his division and this is somewhat of a desperate move by him. I think after last season his star was fading and he needs a guy like Parsons to keep GB in the hunt in what is a very tough division. The lions are (pun intended) the king of that division until somebody proves other wise. O'Connell in Minnesota seems like one of the best coaches in the NFL and now you have Johnson with the bears.
I don't think Love is all that and they certainly don't have Saquon Barkley to hand the ball off too. JJ in just 6 years in the league has racked up 1600 attempts so he has a lot of milage on those tires and 17 games in front of him. Basically they signed a couple of FA that may help there team but lost a couple too. So last year they were 11-6 and 3rd in there division. Does adding Parsons get them 4 more wins with Love at QB and 4 yards and a could of dust from JJ?

Yikes it is. $35+ Million actually. 2025 $18,065,000 and 2026 $17,007,000.Jeevo wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:23 pm I read that the Pack take a $35 dead cap hit on Clark? Yikes, if true.

Wow, if this is true along with the money they gave Parsons along with the picks and the trade doesn't prevail LeFleur will likely be looking for a new job.Jeevo wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:23 pm I read that the Pack take a $35 dead cap hit on Clark? Yikes, if true.

Wow. They are severely leaning hard on a DE to be the lynchpin for that team.Atlasffa wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:37 pm Yikes it is. $35+ Million actually. 2024 $18,065,000 and 2025 $17,007,000.

My bad--the years are '25 and '26 (not '24 and '25).16 to 88 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:42 pm Wow. They are severely leaning hard on a DE to be the lynchpin for that team.
I don't think this would have been a good deal for the Raiders. Too many other holes to make this one, very expensive addition. Alas, we're not at Super Bowl year yet.

A salary dump? They are talking on massive cap hits for the trade this year and next.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:08 pm Huh? How do you figure? It was the other way around. Those will be late 1sts and Kenny Clark is just ok, is about to be 30 years old and was a salary dump. Parsons and Gary will wreak havoc. Not to mention the Packers had the money to pay him.
Jerry Jones doesn't fleece or rape anyone in trades. This is a young, game changing, top 3 DE in the league. In my opinion, he's worth more than what the Packers gave up.

Yea that's my bad, there was some misinformation out at first. Still love the deal for the Packers. The best defensive player in the game while still young should not hit the trade market.haji81872 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:58 pm A salary dump?
