Sure a line is needed. I don’t think that’s the issue with us. I suspect a lot of our issues are a result of Kelly and how he wants the offense to run.Jeevo wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 11:42 am Again, don't disagree on getting the QB. Just saying, we've seen it play out over and over, and putting a young QB behind a terrible O line is a recipe for failure.
As to overall? It’s not easy to get a top notch line but there are many more chances to improve the line with five positions in total. QB on the other hand? Well we know the results of that.

And we could have taken a shot at a 10 year starting tackle with the 6th pick. Harbaugh knew what to do with his first draft.Willmark wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 11:52 am Sure a line is needed. Harbaugh also had Justin Herbert. If both Herbert and Joe Alt were availbe at 6, I'll bet dollars to donuts Chargers are drafting Herbert.Jeevo wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 12:07 pm And we could have taken a shot at a 10 year starting tackle with the 6th pick. This. Really bad to use an example of a team that already has a franchise QB in place.DeathStar24 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 12:09 pm Harbaugh also had Justin Herbert. If both Herbert and Joe Alt were availbe at 6, I'll bet dollars to donuts Chargers are drafting Herbert.

Yes, and we weren't going QB at 6, and also didn't go OT.DeathStar24 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 12:09 pm Harbaugh also had Justin Herbert. If both Herbert and Joe Alt were availbe at 6, I'll bet dollars to donuts Chargers are drafting Herbert.

You can have a great O line with a good RB and compete with a mediocre QB. A bad O line and you have what we have now no matter who the QB is. Of course we need to find our QB but I don't see anyone on the planet looking good with what we have now. A rookie would be ruined before he got a chance. Not sure which QB coming out looks to be that guy. A lot of season left for a QB to move up in the draft though. Either way we have to build the trenches and quit with the good Oline guys are available late in the draft theory we have been going with IMOJeevo wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 11:42 am Again, don't disagree on getting the QB. I agree and why can't we do both at the same time? Start swinging away for a QB early in the draft and fix the line through the draft and free agency. It isn't we have to do one or the other.

Unfortunately for us, we did not capitalize on those players who did not get their 2nd contract with the team that drafted them when they become available. There have been some success stories with QB's who are on their 2nd or 3rd teams before they figured it out.Jeevo wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 10:58 am I don't disagree but the league is littered with guys who never got to their second contract with the team that drafted them. If we do get a top 2 or 3 pick, and do select the next guy, we had better be damned acftive on the O line front as well. Reggie built a 12-3 team by doing that with a young guy and the lesson has been taught many times across the decades.

the Jets are in need of a quarterback, and I don’t see them winning one game this year much less two…Attyla wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:25 pm The ironic level is this shit will culminate in Geno being just good enough to fck us out of us out of Mendoza

Most didn't want Brady when he was available during the Carr era. Then most didn’t want Mayfield when he was available. This year some wanted Darnold, but most didn't want Rodgers and nobody mentioned Daniel Jones either. All of those would have been the better choice but the Raiders decided to go with Carr, Garoppolo, Minshew and now Geno smfh.....islandboy wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 10:09 am I remember many around here saying no way to Baker Mayfield. More were even more adamant not having Aaron Rodgers be our QB.
We would be lights years ahead with either one of them at QB.
Imagine what Rodgers could do with Thornton and Bowers.
I wanted Geno to work out and still hope he does.
He is not the same caliber of QB as Baker or Aaron.

It's really hard to fathom that after seeing this horrific oline this year, that people are actually advocating to get a qb as if it will solve the oline problems. People really need to stop and use some common sense every once in a whileJeevo wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 10:19 am Obviously the QB is the most important position, but if you put a rookie behind a terrible O line you're most likely going to get a garbage result. Daniel Jones is the latest example I think. You remember Brady, Manning, etc., going down the bench and screaming at their O lines, they did that because they knew they couldn't succeed with them playing poorly and they were maniacs for competition.

Seahawks fans last year blamed the OL for Genos problems, sometimes QB play can mask issues in pass blocking and make it look worse as well.Hellbound wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 7:39 pm It's really hard to fathom that after seeing this horrific oline this year, that people are actually advocating to get a qb as if it will solve the oline problems. Its hard to tell with that ranking because we have a tough schedule ahead, the first half was supposed to be the easy schedule for us.Corleone wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 9:27 pm Seahawks fans last year blamed the OL for Genos problems, sometimes QB play can mask issues in pass blocking and make it look worse as well.

Sure but I don't want to mask problems. Think the Bengals are fine with masking their oline problems? Or the Chargers? Colts when they had Luck? The qbs going to get unnecessarily beat up and/or injured. It happens all of the time with weak lines. All one has to do is look at the perennial teams that are always good. The one thing they all have in common is a good line that can protect or run block whenever needed.Corleone wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 9:27 pm Seahawks fans last year blamed the OL for Genos problems, sometimes QB play can mask issues in pass blocking and make it look worse as well.
Think Hurts or Goff are performing the way they are behind our line? I keep seeing posts about Mahomes could be our qb and it wouldn't matter. You absolutely need an oline. Football fundamentals haven't changed much. Control the line of scrimmage, win the game (most of the time)
