Likely read the pressure coming and went to the hit route. That’s what they practice

The question is why. And when asked about it, Kubiak didn't dance around it -- it's pass protection. They trust Laube more in pass pro than they trust Washington.

“Overall Dylan's been a really good protection back for us and that gets you into the game on third down and gets you into the game in passing situations," Kubiak said.

First time Kubiak has pissed me off. But because he's first time head coach I'm giving him a replay on this as long as he really thinks about it.

Washington is the best Running Back the Raiders have right now. Jeanty is injured its obvious and Laube is lucky he's still in the NFL. Jeanty needs to be in IR right now till he heals properly. So Kubiak needs to start Washington and play him in both running and pass plays. Yeah so his pass pro needs work, well Klint if you look at film the entire offensive line pass pro needs a helluva lot of work too. If you don't believe your own eyes on the film ask your qb Cousins as he's been getting hit a lot more than he should be and is having to get rid of the football a lot quicker because the pass rush is in his face.

So coach there is no excuse for you not playing the best running back the raiders have right now. The Raiders need Washington out there desperately. if nothing else give him 15-20 carries and see if he produces a good YPC total and if he also gives a few explosive runs which would also help the offense.

Not using him at all for that pass pro reason when a lot of the team is having pass pro problems is stupid.

And on Pats 1st TD, theres 7 guys in protection and still blew the coverage wide open in the end zone. Who’s getting triple blocked there..is that Paye or Butler?

Its a theory I guess, feels a bit simplistic to me; but honestly can’t think of anything else!
if this is true why is washington still avg 5 yds per carry ??? vs every other back avg 3 yds, talent is talent and the more explosive player needs to be playing when your starter is sucking wind and slow as molasses

I don't necessarily disagree - it wasn't my theory; I just quoted it :smirk:

yeah, i get that, but the theory is doesn't show up on the field as washington is still avg 5 yds per carry vs our supposed better blocking backs whom r avg a little over 3 yds per carry plus washington is a good reciever and a much bigger, faster back of the 3

I don't know why some are souring on our backs. Jeanty (who is hurt) and Washington may be one of the best 1-2 punches in the league down the road. Unfortunately, they are running behind a horrible run blocking line. The numbers of these guys getting hit behind the line of scrimmage is sickening. I am a little disappointed the staff has not made some changes (starting with Burford). He is ASS despite playing in the middle of 2 of the best linemen in the league (who are constantly covering his mistakes). Burford may not do a total whiff like Parham, but he has zero field presence as to what is going on. Come on KK. You are the head coach. I hope you are stepping on Dennison's throat. KK just said there may be changes on the OL.

Didn't JPJ play some left guard in college?

He also played a little his rookie year (and that was his best ball as a pro actually). Unfortunately, he is not reliable.

Sanjit does a good breakdown of last weeks game. Basically Patriots had a good game plan and exploited the Raiders weaknesses.
