Listened to the Silver & Black pod earlier and they talked about the Washington thing. One theory is that his blocking/pass protection is really bad, so teams instantly know that when he comes onto the field it’s run; and if he’s not, then it’s pass.ELCAraiderfan wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 1:03 pm Offense Spec Tms
Player Pos Num Pct Num Pct
Ashton Jeanty RB 32 53%
Dylan Laube RB 23 38%
Mike Washington Jr. RB 5 8%
what the f[raiders_icon]cking insane hell is up with these stats. Lube gets 18 more snaps than washington???
What the hell did washington do? did he hit on kubiak's wife? tell the coaches to go f[raiders_icon]ck themselves? what the hell is the reason for this bullshit of not using the most explosive back the Raiders have right now???
Its a theory I guess, feels a bit simplistic to me; but honestly can’t think of anything else!

If Kyle Shanahan doesn't want a lineman, why would we? Terrible pickup.

Kubiak said it went to a drop back game early and Laube is a good pass protector. Also talked about a lot of 7 man protections which limited receiversLoftyraider wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 2:24 pm Listened to the Silver & Black pod earlier and they talked about the Washington thing. Washington has to be terrible in pass blocking. That's the only thing that makes sense.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 3:16 pm Kubiak said it went to a drop back game early and Laube is a good pass protector. Also talked about a lot of 7 man protections which limited receivers

I blame the lack of a pass rush primarily. I could leave the room, go mow the lawn, take a dump and then come back and Maye is still sitting in the pocket from the same play.

I agree he faced instant pressure but Bowers is breaking open instantly as well. He would have had to been Cousins first read though.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 1:02 pm Pressure instantly. He did the right thing and threw at the pressure. No time for anything to develop

Blocking is part of the game. So, if Washington is lacking, that's a component of his game that needs to be fixed. If Kubiak deems it to be important enough to limit his snap count, so be it. This was something that was also discussed on this site concerning Jeanty when he was a rookie.

Article in link:
One carry on five snaps. That's all Mike Washington received in the Raiders big loss in New England Sunday. Even with Klint Kubiak admitting the Raiders abandoned the run too early, that's still quite low. Especially when you consider Dylan Laube's snaps actually went up considerably from what he usually sees.
The question is why. And when asked about it, Kubiak didn't dance around it -- it's pass protection. They trust Laube more in pass pro than they trust Washington.
“Overall Dylan's been a really good protection back for us and that gets you into the game on third down and gets you into the game in passing situations," Kubiak said.
That not only serves as kudos to Laube, put a challenge to Washington. If he wants to see the field when the Raiders are in obvious passing situations, he has got to get that part of his game up to snuff.
The Raiders fell down 21-7 in the second quarter and saw that gap widen as the game went on. And typically when you are down big, that means you call more pass plays to try and close the gap quickly. Running the ball tends to take a lot more time off the clock. Time the Raiders did not have.
And since running the ball is pretty much the one thing the Raiders feel like he does well, when they stopped running it, he is stuck to the sideline.
