Definitely disagree. Pete publically supported Russ but moved off of him fast when it was time. If Geno continues this play his relationship with Pete wont save him.Hellbound wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 7:13 am Unfortunately barring injury, he's going to be the starter and probably be the starter next year too. I don't see Pete moving off of him unless there's a no trainer upgrade available

Highly unlikely the Raiders would bring him back if he fails to improve over the course of the season. It will be no different than moving from Garoppolo or Minshew. Carroll may be getting a little long on the tooth but he hasn’t become stupid overnight. He’s not going to campaign bringing back one of the lowest rates QB’s in the 2025 season as his own job will likely be on the line next season.Hellbound wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 7:13 am Unfortunately barring injury, he's going to be the starter and probably be the starter next year too. The only QB worse than Gino is Aidan. We have a monopoly in the shit department.

Meanwhile, forgotten in the bunker, our secret weapon Cam Miller is developing as we speak.

I don't want him back, I always thought he was average at best. If the offense still looks terrible by the end of the season, I have a feeling the scapegoat will be Chip. Geno was Pete's handpicked qb. We all know hc have giant egos and Pete's no different. I just have a hard time believing that Geno will be benched this year barring injury and the OC will be scapegoated before Geno will beheavyD wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:19 am Highly unlikely the Raiders would bring him back if he fails to improve over the course of the season. Again, not something I want to happen, I just see Pete giving his hand picked qb every opportunity he can before he admits it's a failure. He's seen and had success with Geno before, you better believe he thinks he can do it again

I’m wondering if “Geno” is constantly misspelt “Gino” on account of all the interceptions.RI RAIDER wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 11:00 am The only QB worse than Gino is Aidan. We have a monopoly in the shit department.

The logic was flawed from the start. Geno has been bad most his career and was showing real regression. Coming off of a season where he led the league in interceptions (on a team with substantially more talent than the Raiders have), it was unrealistic to expect that he was going to improve.Raider727 wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 11:22 pm Pretty sure the logic behind the extension was that they thought Geno was going to play well this year and his contract would look cheap compared to other starting veteran qbs around the NFL next year.
I myself didn't have high hopes for Geno but didn't think he would be as bad as he has been this year.
He isn't seeing the field well at all and can't complete a pass passed 10 yards without risking throwing an interception.
The smart thing obviously was to make him prove it this year, instead of giving him an extension without playing a down.
Looks like Pete talked a big talk and convinced Spytek to not only make the trade but to give him an extension.
Imo Spytek wasn't going to have a big say in the direction of the team with Carroll as he would with a younger HC.
Pete wanted a vet to compete now and when Stafford decided to stay with the Rams, they decided to trade for Geno.
On top of all that, he’s not a young player. There were much better options, the move reeked of desperation and delusion.

I can't say it enough, I didn't think he was this bad. He has terrible vision. He makes bad reads and misses wide open receivers. We have a terrible line but he also has terrible pocket presence for a guy that is supposed to be mobile. I watched him walking back to the sidelines last game and he didn't walk like someone with any pep in his step anymore. Whatever mobility he had is gone otherwise he would take off more.

So if Geno were playing this bad and were winning would we all say that he isn't pretty but is getting the job done. Just win baby?
Like Al used to say to Jimmy Plunkett; "It's not important that you play well, it's important that we win."
I realize we are not exactly winning but it could have gone either way in the Chicago game. If we beat the Chefs game then the entire tenor of this discussion changes considerably.

If we were 3-3 with how bad the offense and ST has been I woulda been impressed.

The problem is you rarely win when you lose the turnover battle. Not easy to find exact stats but one site showed teams winning the turnover battle win 78% of the time. Geno almost single handedly (and has) lost us the turnover battle.

I'm not saying I agreed with their logic, all I'm saying was that's what most likely happened. I agree with what you're saying. Geno was a terrible choice and now the season is over before the bye-week because of it.
