The only way Geno's on the sideline is if he's injuredCorleone wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:34 pm Wanna see something disgusting?
66.5 million.
That’s what we’ll end up paying Geno if we cut him after one year. It’s up there with the all time worst moves and better believe Pete’s gonna give him every chance to get right because a move this bad could mean Pete is one and done (I’m guessing Pete pounded the table hard for Geno).

Yep could have had him on final year of his last contract as a prove it season but NOOOOOOOOO someone thought is was a great idea to give a mid tier at best QB a big payday before playing a downCorleone wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:34 pm Wanna see something disgusting?

This regime and the last both decided to kick off their first year by handing out large contracts to the wrong player...

I don’t remember posting that. Plus, that happened 16 years ago…Rainman56 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:27 pm On the old board when Miami reached out to Russell about the possibilty of a workout/comeback you said and I quote "I still believe in the guy"...![]()

Pretty sure the logic behind the extension was that they thought Geno was going to play well this year and his contract would look cheap compared to other starting veteran qbs around the NFL next year.Rainman56 wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:45 pm Yep could have had him on final year of his last contract as a prove it season but NOOOOOOOOO someone thought is was a great idea to give a mid tier at best QB a big payday before playing a down![]()
I myself didn't have high hopes for Geno but didn't think he would be as bad as he has been this year.
He isn't seeing the field well at all and can't complete a pass passed 10 yards without risking throwing an interception.
The smart thing obviously was to make him prove it this year, instead of giving him an extension without playing a down.
Looks like Pete talked a big talk and convinced Spytek to not only make the trade but to give him an extension.
Imo Spytek wasn't going to have a big say in the direction of the team with Carroll as he would with a younger HC.
Pete wanted a vet to compete now and when Stafford decided to stay with the Rams, they decided to trade for Geno.

From what I have read, Smith's contract is very team friend and The Raiders pretty much can do whatever they want after this year.

Looks like 18.5 dead next year, make it a June 1st cut and its 9 mil a year. Very manageable.RickRyb wrote: Tue Oct 14, 2025 8:10 am From what I have read, Smith's contract is very team friend and The Raiders pretty much can do whatever they want after this year.

Yep. They aren’t married to Gino past this season. I feel they will give him every chance to hold onto the job but I’m sure that Brady and Co expected better and will be looking for improvement over the course of the season. AOC is throwing again and if Smith continues his ways of turning the ball over I can see a change to AOC who is well versed at replacing starting QB’s and providing a level of improvement. I imagine the QB room will look different again last season regardless but management needs to get serious about improving the OL.raider_kin wrote: Tue Oct 14, 2025 8:21 am Looks like 18.5 dead next year, make it a June 1st cut and its 9 mil a year. Yep. A complete embarrassment and pathetic excuse of a QB. Every week that passes I hope to never see him take another snap for this team.BG3428 wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 3:17 am He said he was trying to gopher ball that pick he threw vs. Titans and called it bad luck? Guy is a supreme clown and there’s no way he has this locker room.

Unfortunately barring injury, he's going to be the starter and probably be the starter next year too. I don't see Pete moving off of him unless there's a no trainer upgrade availableBoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 3:19 am Yep. A complete embarrassment and pathetic excuse of a QB. No way on God's green earth he is our starter next year. I'd take wagers.Hellbound wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 7:13 am Unfortunately barring injury, he's going to be the starter and probably be the starter next year too. I don't see Pete moving off of him unless there's a no trainer upgrade available
He's not even gonna be our starter much longer this year.

Leave him in.
O'Connell won't be any better. Within 2 games fans will be calling for Pickett or the ghost of Dave Humm.
