Combination of likely more banged up than advertised and blocking/teams selling out to stop him. It seems like at least a weekly occurrence if not multiple times he kind of hobbles off and gets his ankle re-taped. Then there just hasn’t been a ton of space for him to operate.Attyla wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2026 5:41 am No he is not. But that is football. Is he hurt or injured. If he is injured, they need to sit him until he is not. If he is hurt, he should play. By week three in a season, lots of guys are hurt.
Hopefully with bowers being back things open up a bit. Looked very much like the gameplan for the saints was still Jeanty…. And the gameplan for us was throw it to bowers every play. Also noticed we lined him up further out quite a bit so it’s harder to both stack the box and double bowers.
I suspect that we’ll start to see more room running with bowers being back. Looks like Kubiak is more than capable of scheming mismatches for bowers all game if you’re not going to give him tons of attention. And there’s a point where the calculus for defences changes from Jeanty is our biggest problem to bowers is our biggest problem.

I was one of Jeantys biggest cheerleaders when he got here, but now im wondering if what he had in college will actually translate to the NFL, after the other teams all had a year of film on him.
Its like those QB's who were great as a rookie, then the other team gets the entire set of rookie season tapes to figure that player out, one frame at a time. Im really wondering if he is just too small, and too slow? I know hes built like a tank for his frame, but maybe overall he just isnt as big or fast enough to be a star in the NFL? In college it looked like he was made out of some alien material, people would just slip off him like he had a forcefield around him. In the NFL it seems like even the dopiest players have tackled him down pretty easily.
Dont get me wrong, I hope im wrong because I really thought he was generational, but we are going to find out. Also if hes not healthy, if his ankle is bad, just keep him out and let it heal because we cant really tell how good he is if hes got an underlying injury.

Just spoke to this in another thread. After watching film this week it seems to me to definitely be the ankle. The Oline isn’t amazing, but they are creating lanes. Much much more than Jeanty was seeing last year. He just can’t get to them fast enough.rich72 wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 5:48 pm I was one of Jeantys biggest cheerleaders when he got here, but now im wondering if what he had in college will actually translate to the NFL, after the other teams all had a year of film on him.

There is zero doubt he has been dealing with an ankle for a few weeks now. He either is still lights out better than Laube/Washington so they continue to run him or we have a weak link in our training staff or whomever is giving him the green light to play.

Although there are some here that believe and shout that Jeanty is an elite back, my opinion has been since he was in college that he was just too short and light to be as effective in the NFL where everyone is bigger, stronger and faster than college. What also made me question him translated to the NFL was the small school he played at, which no one can deny, does not play against the same caliber of college teams as Division I schools do. Which I think skewed his stats, maybe giving a lot of people the idea he would transition into the NFL easier than he actually would.
Now I hope I am 100% wrong with my assessment of him before the draft to now with the Raiders. We will see First thing that has to happen is he needs to be sat and allowed to heal completely. Its absolutely stupid to play any player that is injured, but even more so a running back who's injury is his ankle(s). I know the Raiders just signed a RB to the practice squad, Owen Wright on 9/30. Don't know him, need to research, but Jeanty has to be rested for how ever long it takes for him to get 100% healthy!

Then they need to sit him until he can perform.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 6:05 pm Just spoke to this in another thread. Jeanty is no doubt not 100%. To complicate matters, our stuff rate (runs stopped at or behind the line of scrimmage) is a league worse 24.4%. We are also 30th in the league in the % of rushers facing contact before the line of scrimmage.

If Jeanty not 100% then Raiders need to rest him; Washington is not a bad replacement while Jeanty get healthy….

Jeanty, faster, but more power too. Especially when he squares up against a would-be tackler. He plants his feet, lowers his shoulder, and lays wood. Dude needs to rest that f’n ankle.

With all the 12 and 13 personnel the Raiders run, even 14 when Zuhn is on the line, forces defenses into base crowding or stacking the box.
One reason that may have something to do with thier run game problems.
Id say spread 'em out but with our recievering core equivalent to low end #2s whats there to fear.
And yes, I think
Nailor, Tucker, Bech, White, Benson and Young, are ALL closer to a #3 receiver then they are a #1.
The Raiders need a #1 outside X receiver who can brake man coverage and force defenses into nickle and dime.
Make it happen Spy. Find a bargain before the deadline so we dont have to roll the dice on a high draft pick.
