#25 isn't great sorry!
Now, you want to do #25, #60 and next years 1st Round maybe!
Or #25, next years 1st and 3rd and Darnell Wright!

I’m confused, are you asking me personally if I want to do that? I’m just posting what is being reported.Coach dd 11 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 5:14 pm #25 isn't great sorry!

If this were true and we could afford it, then imo that is the move:BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 3:42 pm I've said it before and I'll say it again. As crazy as it sounds, the ONLY way I bring Trey here is if we keep Maxx. Make DE an absolute force. In no way am I replacing Maxx for Trey in any way shape or form.
"Make DE an absolute force."
We have to assume we will do a good job at addressing the Oline only an idiot wouldn't, so imo the next thing is the DL.
So we go QB/OL/DL in one year, then we should see amazing progress.

I think we almost have to do something if we trade Maxx. This defence absent Maxx is easily the ugliest unit in the league and probably by a decent margin. Like even if Mendoza is a stud right away… we’re basically the bengals. Except we don’t have the receivers they haveSkullCrusher wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 5:35 pm If this were true and we could afford it, then imo that is the move:

Maxx is a great player but lets be real, the defense didn't look substantially different the games he hasnt played. This isnt a knock on Maxx but on defense no single player has a game changing impact. A good system with solid players from top to bottom will be much more successful and that will probably takes at least two yearsraiders93 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 6:35 pm I think we almost have to do something if we trade Maxx. I can follow that, but lets go the other way.DanKD wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:15 pm Maxx is a great player but lets be real, the defense didn't look substantially different the games he hasnt played. You have Maxx and you add another stud to the DL, does that make a lot better on the DL?
If not, how about two more really great players, that's 3 studs on the DL, now we're becoming elite.
But it you get rid of Maxx that means we need to replace him plus still getting the others.
Goal dominate OL and DL, removing Maxx takes a step backwards in the short term getting there.

Well of course trading Maxx is a negative short term decision. I do think with proper coaching and development two first round picks and the cap room will do more to building a good defense over the next 2-3 years.SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:46 pm I can follow that, but lets go the other way.

I'd agree with that to an extent...if you trade Maxx but flip that into 3 - 5 other really good defensive players...isn't that better?SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:46 pm I can follow that, but lets go the other way.

I'm not saying it is right or the best route but it is a clear path to get better and be good in the long term. IMO

And this isn't mean to be anti Maxx. For a team who already has a system and defense in place, adding Maxx could be a superbowl winning move, he is a great player. But I do think two first round picks and the money help us more based on where we are with a defense almost completely devoid of talent.

Sure but that is an "if". But we still are down one top notch player on D immediately that doesn't have all that much.Coach dd 11 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:50 pm I'd agree with that to an extent...if you trade Maxx but flip that into 3 - 5 other really good defensive players...isn't that better?

What I'm leaning on is the coach has a way about him to get the players to play at potential and be all in, that has a large value itself.

Well yes, I'd agree with that. But what you said, adding a DT is an "if" as well correct? Can you "prove" that that player will actually work and make us better.SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:55 pm Sure but that is an "if". Again, i'm not saying you're wrong at all but I think their are several ways this can be done. Realistically, this team is NOT in a position to be elite in 1 - 2 years, we'd be better off in my opinion trading that chip for picks and saving the cap money and building a true younger team for the future. I'd feel different if we were truly close but I just don't see that.
