Ok maybe this doesn’t need its own thread but the deadline is 5 weeks away. I know the next couple weeks will determine if we are buyers but let’s say we get to 5-2 do we make a move?

I really wish we still had Jakobi here but it sounds like a few guys might be available…

Brian Thomas Jr
Marvin Harrison Jr
Jerry Jeudy

Thoughts?

They have great receiving options already & a top Def. They’d be the Seacocks of last year. Only I think better offensively. Better offensively weapons for sure.

I think you should be able to get a 1st for sure from them. But it’d be end of the first. If Raiders throw in a 5th, could they do a 1st & 3rd? I think they’d be a SB favorite with those two.
i dont think the vikings would want jeanty, jordan mason is their starter with aaron jones as the rb 2 which is a pretty good combo...cousins tot he vikings would be a huge upgrade but then what do they do with kyler murray ???

Oh I agree with you. I wouldn’t trade high value draft capital for a RB, especially since their RB room is ok. It’s nothing special but it’s an above avg combo. Thing is, maybe they over value the RB position & think Jeanty is elite (I still do but not worth a 1st). Along with getting Cousins cause, It doesn’t seem they believe in Murray. As they shouldn’t.

I was just throwing this hypothetical out for discussion. Since it fits what some teams do &, what the media thinks is logical.

"If I'm Philadelphia, knowing Jalen Hurts is out for the year, if I'm the Vikings [...] I'm going to offer the Raiders a second-round draft choice."
Gruden argued that Cousins could help either team compete for a Super Bowl, especially given the talent already on their rosters.

"Gruden believes". :loltears:

Stranger things have transpired but I have serious reservations the vikings, eagles or any other team are thinking trading for Kirk Cousins is the golden ticket to a SB run. I hope so! If they offered a 2nd I would be all over it! I would be all over it if the offered a 3rd. If they still wanted to sit Fernando they could insert Adian for a handful of games and then bring Mendoza after the bye. Can we package Crosby with the deal?

Speaking of which, I would leverage Crosby against other teams like say, the bills. SF looks like a shoe in for the bowl but if they face the chiefs can they win it all? Crosby would be the one to put them over the edge. They gave up two firsts and a third for Trey Lance and got nothing out of the deal. Even if they didn't win it all this year they would have a powerhouse of a team the next.

I dont see them pulling the trigger if were 6-5 at the deadline. At 5-6, I think they do. The Rams game is the key. Lose that game and I think they will trade Cousins.

There’s no rule that prevents the Raiders from trading Jeanty right now. They can’t renegotiate his rookie contract until after his third year

Love Gruden "the fan" as he is a Raider through and through. I just did not like Gruden "the coach".

I don’t think we are trading Cousins, even after we start Mendo I think they will want Kirk there as a mentor for him. With how careful the organization is being with bringing Fernando along the “right way” I think they would value keeping Cousins over the late round pick they would receive in a trade. Just my opinion.

Keeping Cousins while Mendoza is starting would be terrible business. To improve the team, you need to get what you can for Cousins. He's gone next year anyway. I wouldn't pass up a 2nd or 3rd round pick to keep Cousins as a "mentor" for Mendoza for what, 8-9 games?

They drop this game, I think Cousins could be gone.

I loved Gru the first time. He was exactly what we needed. The second time, meh.

There is no doubting that he loves the game and I am glad he continues to stay a part of it.

I'm not as impatient as you with respect to wanting Mendoza to start, but I'm getting there. If they were to announce that Mendoza was elevated to the starter, I'd be really excited.

There's more to deciding to trade Cousins than just getting some trade value in return or saving some cap dollars. There's also the human aspect of giving him an opportunity to compete with a team ready to compete this season - in appreciation for being a true pro and helping with Mendoza's development. Plus it eliminates any discussion of a QB battle if Mendoza has a rough outing, and he will likely have some rough games.

Mendoza absolutely has to get some real playing time this season because of what it will do for his preparation for next season.

Nope, need Cousins as a mentor all year.

BoKnows81 wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 2:17 pm So let's say hypothetically someone offers a 2027 2nd round pick for Jeanty. Do you move him?

I really think I would.

Followed by Maxx.
I don't think it's time to give up on him, yet...Besides, who would we replace him with? I personally think a feature back is overrated unless you happen across a Jonathan Taylor. But, I think Jeanty will come around and even if her never becomes a "generational talent" or even if his consistency never materializes we know he can make plays. More importantly no unrealistic second contract.

I am starting to wonder if he becomes another Napoleon Kaufman, very good but doesn't carry the load. Complimentary backs are cheap and Denver used to manufacture late round nobody's in their system which has highly influenced Kubiak's philosophy.

No, we don't "need" Cousins as a mentor all year.

Seems like a no-brainer. If someone offers a 2nd for Cousins they should help pack his bags.

I'd pack his bags for a 3rd
