The class may be better, but will there be a prospect better than Mendoza?rcraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 9:12 pm NOBODY is arguing Mendoza is not the pick, the argument is that this was a weak QB class and next year will be better.
Arch may have the legacy name but beyond that, he’s not as good as Mendoza and neither is Moore, Sayin, Sellers etc
Next year may be better for QB needy teams drafting in the top 3 but this year is better for a QB needy team drafting #1 overall. Mendoza is everything you’d want in a QB to build a franchise around.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 10):

The beauty of having a plethora of on the face of it quality/intriguing QB options next draft is that blue chip guys should fall their way to us on the basis we'll more than likely have a fairly middling draft position or if we are high up then scope to trade down to accumulate more picks.
Mendoza is the guy, now let him cook and give him a quality supporting cast!

Mendoza was not on anyone's radar at the beginning of the season. And Indiana was ranked very low in the top 20 among teams. It is a crap shoot to say any one will emerge next year or that multiple players will emerge next year. Sellers in particular could blow up or die on the vine. Allar was supposed to be the guy who would take it to the next level. We saw what happened there. Not saying any of these guys can become what Mendoza became but football is a funny sport in that regard.Corleone wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 1:22 am The class may be better, but will there be a prospect better than Mendoza?

I just hope the fan base gives Mendoza a few years before the fangs come out, should he not light it up right away. The cast around him isn't very good right new.
I always felt guys like Rodgers and Love developed so well was because they sat for a while.

this does not equate with the narrative regarding Brady that he is just some football player and that is it.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 8:06 pm Here’s another with tom Brady. Maybe spoken has tik tok and can get it here. I only have the Reddit link.

Big Cory's highlights are missed so much when the Raiders are bad. So he did the Peach Bowl highlights of our new QB

The guy is smart. Even for those who hate him you can’t deny football IQ, quarterback savvy or physical health. I have really enjoyed a lot of his interviews. Especially talking about belichick spending time each week explaining the defenses and coverages both positives and weaknesses from the defenses side. Not just from an offfensive perspective.Attyla wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 5:41 am this does not equate with the narrative regarding Brady that he is just some football player and that is it.

while it's true that anything can happen, and players emerge from nowhere, it's just not very often a 6'5, 225 lb pro style QB, wins a Heisman, leads his team to the National Championship while throwing more TD than incompletions (in the playoffs vs Bama and Oregon). Prospects like this don't come around every year, you're lucky to get one or two a decade, the last was Joe Burrow. Will be interesting to see how he handles the game Monday night, because another performance like the last two will put him in rare territory.Attyla wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 4:35 am Mendoza was not on anyone's radar at the beginning of the season. Absolutely. Oh, we are, we got a guy coming up that is going to blow up the team. Great size, good build, can make the throws we need him to make and we are getting him at a time when ownership just added the greatest QB ever. Just hope the Brady magic can be imparted to Mendoza.Corleone wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 6:07 am while it's true that anything can happen, and players emerge from nowhere, it's just not very often a 6'5, 225 lb pro style QB, wins a Heisman, leads his team to the National Championship while throwing more TD than incompletions (in the playoffs vs Bama and Oregon). I am also pretty damn sure the 2027 crop is going to be a deep one, not saying for certain but the stars seem to be aligning for a great draft class for QB. Deep classes typically produce 3-4 starters out of it that stick at one level or another. I can see that next year.

You see the irony here though right? On one hand you’re discounting a “way too early mock draft” while on the other, making way too early assessments on the 2027 draft.rcraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 8:45 pm Notice the "WAY TOO EARLY" ! it's clickbait and did Manning and Sellers come out ? where does it say this is a strong draft ?
Point being it’s too early to say with any degree of certainty how strong next years class will be imo. There’s tons of assumptions that these guys all have breakout seasons. Doesn’t always happen that way. I don’t know there’s any Luck, Lawrence, Caleb level prospects next year

Beating a dead horse here, one thing is for certain, this year was a bad draft for QBs, it produced 1 first rd worthy QB, lucky for us we have the 1st pick in the draft and are in the position to draft him.raiders93 wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 7:04 am You see the irony here though right?
