Next years crop of quarterbacks is better! Every year without fail, oh man the next year QB draft is better than this year! Bunch of nonsense most of the time. The Mahomes draft was a super weak QB draft by all accounts. Nobody worth a 1st round grade, then Mahomes got some momentum late in the process.
Joe Burrow never had had a cannon for an arm and he was throwing to two of the top 5 best receivers in the NFL currently while in college. What's Mendoza's slight, his arm? He can't throw it 80 yards like Richardson at Florida? More nonsense takes, as if that matters.
It's almost as if traditional QB traits that have lasted the test of all kinds of time go by the wayside. Everyone wants some runner who can throw a 50 yard rope escaping the pocket. Reality is, most of those guys are extremely rare. They also usually don't amount to much. Mahomes & Josh Allen are about the only ones who have. I'm not sold on Caleb Williams, he looks like shit 50% of the time

Speaking for myself, I never cared for the #15. I would love to see the Raiders issue him #16 but ultimately the decision is Fernando's.Rabidraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 7:27 pm Mendoza should switch his number to 14. We are getting him because of strength of schedule difference of.14....lol
I hope we are not jinxing the situation by discussing this as a forgone conclusion.

NOBODY is arguing Mendoza is not the pick, the argument is that this was a weak QB class and next year will be better.Goodtimes333 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 9:02 pm Next years crop of quarterbacks is better! I get that completely. In my observation I've learned to not put a label on it like that. There's no possible way to know if this class is going to produce or not. Or if next years class will be what you think it will, or if it will produce or not.rcraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 9:12 pm NOBODY is arguing Mendoza is not the pick, the argument is that this was a weak QB class and next year will be better.
Some guys who hit even have big questions. Burrow & Daniels look injury prone. I'm a big fan of both but those questions are valid. Caleb Williams has trash footwork & is inaccurate often. Trevor Lawrence was hailed as the next Manning/Luck/etc and to me he's not really met the standard of what he was proclaimed to be. Arch Manning looks very mediocre to me personally.

Last year I get off work and flip on the tube. On ESPN was Miami vs Cal. I'm watching the game & I remember then thinking, wow this Cal Bears QB is good. That dude was Fernando Mendoza & Cal lost to Miami 38-39. In a controversial ending if I recall right.
Pretty fitting memory with Fernando about to play Miami and be the #1 pick like Ward was

They didn't come out cause they sucked. Last year at this time they were thought to be top picks.rcraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 8:45 pm Notice the "WAY TOO EARLY" ! it's clickbait and did Manning and Sellers come out ? where does it say this is a strong draft ?
Gotta hand it to you. You'll stick to your story no matter how silly it looks.

Thank goodness we don’t have to actually give a shit about next year’s QB crop, or the entire draft in general, until we have this draft. Then we’ll need to play games in the regular season to ascertain what position/s we most need help at. THEN, we can begin worrying about the who/what/where of next year’s draft. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

Curveball for Raiders NOT getting Mendoza.
Mendoza and his family being so religious abore the thought of Fernando playing in Sin City and declare he will not sign if the Raiders select him #1 and or he decides to stay in school because the Raiders and Vegas have the #1 selection.
So the Raiders don't really screw up the pick per say, but do because they suck and moved to Sin City!
and Dante Moore says f[raiders_icon]ck it too and goes back to school for another season.
done
No franchise QB for the cursed silver & bleak.

Hondo interviews Mr Bread and Breakfast - Tom Walsh - some draft talk - Mendoza etc, usual Hondo drivel
Walsh seems to lead more into trading the pick and getting a haul for it.
He likes Mendoza but thinks the Raiders have to many holes to fill.
He says Mendoza best in this class but has gotten calls from others to check out other QBs in the 2027 class that may grade out higher.

Being a Christian means being a light in darkness. Every big city in this country could be considered a nasty shithole in the regard of a "sin city"ELCAraiderfan wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:20 pm Curveball for Raiders NOT getting Mendoza.

It didn't stop Derek Carr. There's a lot of NFL players who are about God & Jesus Christ. That's not gonna stop Fernando

Actually Vegas is a pretty nice place to live, at least outside of the strip, there are definitely far worse placesGoodtimes333 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:25 pm Being a Christian means being a light in darkness. Had family there once upon a time. Outside the strip you’ll find the same suburbias in every other city in every other state of America. Newer and nicer than most. The strip is predominantly for tourists.rcraider wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 11:00 pm Actually Vegas is a pretty nice place to live, at least outside of the strip, there are definitely far worse places

These days it’s “Sin City” brought to you by Walt Disney. Sure you can still find drugs, strip clubs, and hookers, but how many cities can’t you find that? Especially ones big enough to have a professional football team.Goodtimes333 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:25 pm Being a Christian means being a light in darkness. One year you’re drafting Josh Rosen at 10.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 3:05 pm Man, I want to be clear that I really really like Mendoza. But damn we better hope he is our guy and do everything possible for him to succeed bc if there's ever a year to get a QB, its 2027.
The next? You’re drafting Kyler #1 overall.
Now, both those guys suck….
But if we continue to suck in the 2026 football season, it would not be hard for me to get a football boner for the improved versions of Arch, Dante Moore, etc.
