Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

I wouldn't draft a QB next year. I'd use both 1st round picks on Oline. The higher pick on OT, the next pick on best available Oline man whether it be tackle or guard, preferably a guy who can play both positions. Then in 2027 get the QB and a DT with your 1st two 1st round picks. Save some cap space to overpay a DE when you're positioned to make a run.rcraider wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:40 am And who is this magical franchise QB you're going to draft ? cause right now this QB draft class is looking weak as piss

I like him, he's a good prospect but again an underclassman, a big year from him and he will make a lot more NIL money to stay in school and maybe even more if some team entices him into entering the transfer portal.Hellbound wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 7:24 am Fernando Mendoza could be added to the list. There's some names out there that I'd definitely take a swing on

I remember when Al Davis signed DeAngelo Hall to be the other cornerback for Raiders and we had All-World Nnambi on the other side…..Hall got torched as the NFL QB,s would not dare throw the ball to Nnambi side of the field.Oaktown Superman wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 5:26 pm I think NA21 was a great corner and QB’s avoided challenging him.
Then Hall got released after 6 or 7 games…and DeAngelo Hall was a very good corner and still had a long career in the NFL…..
Nnambi for like 5 years was like the one of best corner in the NFL; as I remember he was like about 29 when he went to Philly and that is a time when corner start to lose their peak…

No, he is not. He is rated where he should be. All Pro is voted on by his peers. I will believe they know a helluva lot more about him than some message board hack who has proven time and again that he knows jack shit about the game.mranquales wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:05 pmRookie Joe Alt with no experience (week 1) stone walled Maxx with no help.
Maxx is overrated, bro.
As for him vs Mack, it is close, Mack has the edge due to his abilities vs the run. But you isolating on a couple individual games or moments in Mack's career is the worst possible way to make your argument.
Maxx is rated right where he should be rated

Let’s get real though bro, DeAndré Washington could play the position better than both those scrubs. #realtalk #surryassAttyla wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 4:33 am No, he is not. Wouldn’t the best thing to do on defense be to build around the best player?

In a normal world yes. But it's clear we are very far away from being "built" and Maxx is getting up there.Willmark wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 5:55 am Wouldn’t the best thing to do on defense be to build around the best player?

I guess the question I would ask is this, how quickly can we move to a "normal world" if we hit on 50% of our moves during the rest of this year and moving forward? Teams may not do it in one off season or even two when you have been this epically bad for as long as we have been, going through GMs and coaching staffs.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 7:24 am In a normal world yes. You said Bowers cannot be moved and I get your logic but Maxx is 28, that does mean he has quite a bit of time before he starts to wear out if they coach and play him correctly. Brock will be 23 this year, so are you suggesting it could take 5 years? I will suggest that if it takes 5 years that Brock will just not agree to a second contract and we will lose him as well.
My logic is based on the known. We know what we have in Maxx, high motor, kind of a quirky guy but is loyal and plays at a high level every play. He does not take plays off on the field. Why give up that known for two unknown players? We certainly can afford his contract so it is not a money thing. He should be able to play at or around his current level for at least 5 years so it is not a time thing. Why give up the one thing we know for unknown. And if you trade for Maxx, and give up those picks, you are a contender so what we get back are lower round picks (I do not think we get 1 firsts for him honestly) so where is the real value?
I think the value is keeping Maxx and pushing forward in the long term plan, but that is just me. I hate trading away talent and I also believe in quicker turnaround times.

Trust me, since search now works? A certain person is likely deleting his message from earlier. Because his stance isn’t matching up now.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 7:24 am In a normal world yes. But it's clear we are very far away from being "built" and Maxx is getting up there.

If you want to trade Max for some number 1 picks, open it up to the league. Maybe a crappy team with high number ones would bite, SF most likely a mid to high pick.
I hear Dallas needs a guy like Max.

This is what I've been saying for years. Build a monster O-line through the draft, add in key FAs as need, and go ground and pound with talented RBs. Then even a middling QB could have success. It likely wouldn't put us in the Super Bowl, but it would give us a puncher's chance year after year until/if we find a franchise QB.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:24 pm I wouldn't draft a QB next year. And getting a legitimate franchise QB is a such a shot in the dark. The variables of whether one will succeed is beyond the player's control. It has to be the right coaching staff--the entire offensive must be observant enough to guide the kid along and have the capability to get the most out of him ASAP. Build the line, keep the good pieces as much as possible, and then hope a franchise QB falls to us. That shit's all about luck.

When you don’t have a QB you should be drafting a QB every year until you find one at the same time as building the lineOpoponax50 wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:37 am This is what I've been saying for years. You can do both at the same time i don't know why people think it is impossible to do both
It is looking like a good year to be needing a QB, there is a long way to go & a few might drop out & go back to school but if we re in a position to get a QB we should take it

That's a fine idea until you consider just how much this defense is missing. Wilkins shit out and neither Koonce or Wilson is coming through this year. We lost our best LB to New England, and as of this moment I can't remember the names of any of our CBs... or our D-linemen for that matter.Willmark wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 5:55 am Wouldn’t the best thing to do on defense be to build around the best player?
Maxx will be washed by the time we're able to acquire those pieces and by then he won't be worth anything in draft capital. It was the same thing with Carr's status. We had the chance to likely trade him for two firsts, but then the following two years he proved just how little he was actually worth.
In Maxx's case, it's different. He's a known Pro Bowl caliber player at the second most important position on the field. His talent and work ethic are unquestionable. We may be able to get two late firsts from him for a team looking for that last piece. Buffalo would be a good candidate. So would Detroit to put opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
Yes, we'd end up with low first rounders, but those could be used to trade up. Maybe even better, it would force the team to take potentially solid contributors that would be part of the team for years rather than trying to win the draft lottery in the top 10.

1. If you draft a QB every year, it would mean that at no time would you have a QB on the roster with more than two years experience (at best). No coaching staff could develop QBs at that rate. And there's certainly no guarantee that any of those QBs would be worth a damn. You could very well end up having a starter who really belongs on the practice squad. In the meantime, you'd much more likely be passing up e.g. quality depth players and maybe even a starter or two at other positions.CWood24 wrote: Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:46 am When you don’t have a QB you should be drafting a QB every year until you find one at the same time as building the line
2. If it was so possible to build both the O-line and get a franchise QB at the same time, every team would be doing it, Raiders included.
The reality is that most QBs fail and/or underperform. Another reality is that without a superstar QB, you have little chance to win a Super Bowl***. Therefore, you have to find another way to win games. And the best way to do that is to have an offense that can stay on the field and score 20+ points per game. That's doable.
***Jalen Hurts is somewhat of an exception, but he's still a damn good QB.
