Our Defense
If we're really gonna run a 3-4 then these depth charts should show it. Our line should consist of Hemingway, Laula, and Fatukasi with Crosby and Paye as our OLBs. Crosby played linebacker in high school. The position is not entirely strange to him.

We are 2nd in points scored and 30th in points allowed. Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde routine.

It's been consecutive weeks now where the opposition goes down drive after drive after drive and gets points. I know it's the not the greatest group of individual talent but Leonard needs to get his shit together.

We keep taking about drafting offense when the defense is terrible.
I'd rather have a top Nose tackle than a top WR1 at this point.

We truly need both so the question will simply be what can be had via trade, FA or the value when picking in the draft.Rabidraider wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 6:57 am We keep taking about drafting offense when the defense is terrible.

Agree, but overall the mindset needs to be fix the defense. With even a middle of the pack defense the team would be 6-2Xramfan wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 7:01 am We truly need both so the question will simply be what can be had via trade, FA or the value when picking in the draft.

They are well beyond the Jeremiah Smith range at this point. Honestly, I'd go BPA for defense. Even if it's someone in the secondary.Rabidraider wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 6:57 am We keep taking about drafting offense when the defense is terrible.

We keep relying on mid round pick & other peoples mid level free agents to bolster D we cant expect to be good.
The Ferrell’s & Wilson’s not working out have hurt us on that side of the ball
We do have some hope with the like of Hemingway, Keenan, Stukes, Porter & Masses have all flashed good talent it is just a shame we didn't get to see Crawford
Our D started awful & finished strong but with so many young players in key position it was always gonna be a night & day season for them
The one partnership i’m really intrigued to see going forward is the IDL tandem of Hemingway & Keenan, once Hemingway get’s back to full fitness i really think they could be the anchor up front we need

The only other WR1 that could be in our range is Coleman.DeathStar24 wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 7:11 am They are well beyond the Jeremiah Smith range at this point. Honestly, I'd go BPA for defense. Even if it's someone in the secondary.
I hope there is a D lineman there personally.

I dont know if we really need a top WR more than we need more pass rush it a big debateRabidraider wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 7:20 am The only other WR1 that could be in our range is Coleman.

Bowers being the weapon he is give us the option to leave WR maybe into the 2nd
Also hoping Keenan keeps trending upwards to allow us to look more at the edge, if him & Hemingway can get a little tandem going i think the D will look better

I'm good with Coleman too. I know Dline is the greater need, but I won't turn down a Leonard Moore (don't think he'll be in their range as well) or even an Ashton Hampton out of Clemson should he fall to them.Rabidraider wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 7:20 am The only other WR1 that could be in our range is Coleman.

I agree, hopefully there is a highly touted Dlineman or two that they can draft.

agree 100 pct, kubiak has us avg almost 30 per game now with crap at wr, the upside is what with a wr1 ??? vs getting a top dt/nt whom can move us to 15 and higher on defenseRabidraider wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 6:57 am We keep taking about drafting offense when the defense is terrible.
