Rams? 199 rushing, Stafford 23-29 - 195 yds. 3 TDs. 28pts. on the board quickly meant don't bother to run the ball especially when you haven't all year. We have players we acquired in the off season that could be busts. I'm having flashbacks to the Carr days where we needed at least 30 pts. to have a chance, here we go again. The plan for O coordinators? take away Crosby, everyone else on the line is no problem. It may be too early to talk about Rob Leonard but lately he has no answers as the D continues to give it up!
...my growing problem with Leonard is that on many of these big gains against us, the space they have for those big gains, and many times, before even being touched. ....either players are grossly missing assignments, or they are not being pot in a position to defend those plays, and when they happen time and time again in a given game, ....
....way too easy for the Rams on those plays to the outside with Stafford rolling out...

As per usual I've let the performance sink in before posting. We haven't learned anything new from this game. The lack of talent in the interior oline and dline is a massive issue. It isn't going to be fixed this year but I expect us to focus on these positions in FA and the draft. It'll be bad until this is addressed. Despite this we have shown ways to actually win games and score points and I take this as a sign that the coaching is actually working.

Positives:
Tucker
Bowers
Mayer

Negatives:
Interior oline - we are 2 starting quality guards away from competing. Highest priority to fix. No run game at all and the passing game is severely limited.
Interior dline - have to get at least one, likely 2 (one who can pass rush and one who can clog up the run lanes). I'm hopeful one of the young dt's will break through at some point but right now its flashes of potential alongside a lot of poor play. Without improvement in this position group our pass rush will struggle and we will continue to be unable to stop the run.
WR corps. Aside from Tucker we've got almost nothing. Nailor hasn't done anywhere near enough to justify the outlay yet.

There will be more bad games this season but I'm quite sure the front office, coaching staff, and ownership can see the problems. The talent deficit is going to take another off season, possibly two, to make up. In the meantime I at least want to see maximum effort from the current players, their future on the roster depends on it. I also hope our young players take the opportunity to develop into quality starters.

Its not the end of the world and calling for specific people to be fired just resets the rebuild. We are going through a process and perhaps the early wins gave us a little more hope than was justified. We did win those games though, despite the talent issue and that bodes well for the future.

....yep, we earned the first pick in the draft half a year and 8 games ago.

....we filled a lot of holes, and many of them have been good moves, and some have not been so good, but that is free agency.
...what I see is a more so young team with some remaining, pretty glaring holes that, when filled, and with the experiences gained in the meantime by some of the kids, has a chance to really take a step forward.
....a big d tackle that can penetrate, and another to fill space, and some additional linebacker depth would do wonders for the entire defense.
...on offense, at least one very good guard and more line depth, and of course, add to the receiver room, and that that unit would be far stronger.
....not a whole lot of players, but at positions which would make everyone better, as those holes are being exploited in a big way by the opposition.

Tackling is fundamental. Guys have been doing it since pop warner. The fact they don’t do it in a pro game is again personnel and not on coaching.
...I think that a little more, and consistent push up the middle, in addition to some added experience, will do wonders for our secondary.

Before everyone start pounding on Rob the (DC) coach; you gotta remember that the Raiders did not hire Kubiak until after the Super Bowl; where all the good DC have already been hired by other teams that were available so at the moment we are stuck with him until this season ends…maybe things will get better

Bottom line is that the raiders were the worst team in the NFL last year; and it going to take some time for Kubiak to turn this team around; probably looking at year three before the raiders actually start beating good teams; but we do have to sit back and give Kubiak a chance…

Another note; we really need to start playing Mendoza; Cousin really has not done anything to get bench; but Mendoza needs to get at least a half of a season playing time under his belt…

Saw this somewhere; JPJ starting…Raiders are 3-1
JPJ not starting Raiders are 0-3

This team is a handful of plays from being 5-2. The margins are razor thin in the NFL.

FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 9:19 pm To be honest the O is getting a lot of garbage points when the games are out of reach. They looked pathetic in the first half again today. Started out with our 2 yard gain followed by the always effective screen against a stacked box for a 4 yard loss.
The O got some points yesterday when the game was out of reach. The O got points vs the Pats when the game was out of reach. There was not really any garbage time in any other game. That's actually a pretty small part of a pretty good offense thusfar.

After yesterdays games.

We are the third highest scoring team in the NFL
We are the second worst team at giving up points in the NFL.

They have lose to the Chiefs, Patriots, Rams, and Bills. All teams that are Super Bowl contenders as the Raiders were pretty well handed a 1st place schedule for finishing 32nd last season. The team has improved but not to the point where they are good enough to beat the best teams. Still there's a lot of issues as the defense is regressing and the offensive line simply can't run block. It's now been three straight seasons where the offensive line has been manhandled in the trenches and it's clear that they need to completely overhaul the personel. I think it's a little early to call for Leonard's head but by the end of the season we need to see some improvement as that first half defensive performance was really bad. I don't see any reason to panic as there's still 10 games left and if the defense can improve they can at least be competitive.

In one half of play we looked like a team bad enough to earn the 1st overall pick, in the other half we look like a young ascendant roster who's not quite there yet. It's worth reminding ourselves this is year 1 of a regime change, and for all intents and purposes a legitimate rebuild.

Despite that we lost, and the moral victories are getting old. We're close to being more than mediocre but several things are holding us back
  • We can't run behind our guards at all. Our most successful run plays are off tackle and stretch runs. Washington is the de facto RB on these plays because even when Jeanty is healthy, Washington is faster. The few times Washington had to run inside he was stuffed in the same fashion that Jeanty is. We don't have a RB issue, or a WR issue, we have a MASSIVE O-Line issue. JPJ and Rogers are rotating all game and both suck. Burford sucks. Linderbaum isn't playing up to his paycheck.
  • Nailor is overpaid for what he is but is consistently getting open downfield and Kirk isn't looking his way. Take that for what it's worth
  • Pass rushers are horrible. Maxx is disruptive, relentless, but can't finish. Which has always been the case with him. Koonce has good bend but lacks the twitch and burst to finish as well. Paye is an effort based cleanup guy who cleans up in the run game. There isn't a true consistent threat to the QB on the roster.
Are there minor issues elsewhere? Absolutely. Our DBs are young. We need more talent at WR. Cousins is a game manager who isn't the cause of our losing but also won't win games on his own...But the game begins and ends in the trenches. It's something us Raider fans should be intimately aware of by now. We're losing because our line play sucks on both sides of the ball. Run the ball, protect the QB, and take down the opposing QB. Figure those things out and the wins will follow.

I turned it off after 21-3. Defense looked like they might be able to compete on the 3 and out in the opening drive and then it went to shit. Seen enough games in my time to admit defeat.

Jeanty was a bonehead draft pick under Carroll…runningback should never be picked in top ten
