Around the NFL
No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

Agree with this too between Payton and Allen as best all around. LaDainian Thomlinson comes in second to these two imo. He was first rb to come to mind. have to think if anymore fit into this category.Willmark wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 4:12 am Best all around back is either him or Payton. Same mold really, Payton was more powerful. Allen was more elusive.
I ran the numbers going conservative, reasonable or exceeding what he would have done those four years Al benched him and you get something like 800-1000 yards on the ground per season along with 300-400 receiving per year maybe 20 more TDs. (1990 season I left largely as is).
I deliberately picked a middle of the road scenario; he’s not recreating his 1985 season,
Another thing is 1982 hurt him a lot. That season seven games and four more in 1987. 11 games, that’s approaching an entire season. Smith never had to face that during his playing career. Nor did he have to face an outright hostile owner trying to sabotage him.
Long story short, with some logical inferences and using his Chiefs years (as a guide to how he performed in relation to latter half of his career) he ends up within around 800 yards of Smith for yards from scrimmage and around five less TDs for his career.
That’s the crime that Al Davis committed.
Is this exact? No, but when I ran the numbers it came up with a fairly decent working model.
Regarding the above in bold, it was Payton's choice to be more powerful and Allen chose to be more elusive. Allen was actual bigger than Payton (same weight) so if Marcus wanted to he could have done like Walter did. I loved watching Payton decide that open field running was over on this play and he decided to blast into the defensive player. Was great him doing that. Allen was just so sick at gliding and sliding into or out of or in the holes in the line and on the field.

lol that’s what you wanna go with? Did Myles Garrett make that team great? That’s your argument you wanna roll with. Or Allen? & Donald wasn’t an extremely valuable piece to Rams winning?mstrbass2000 wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 12:36 pm i disagree with this
bijan, gibbs and walker are making their mark are difference makers putting fear into the hearts of every defense they face
did myle garret make cleveland great ...nope, did donald make the rams great ...nope...what has josh allen ever won ???
Have the Falcons won? Have the Lions won? I suggest you use a different type of argument for this.
So you would take Gibbs over Donald, Allen, Garrett?

Uhm what?!! That is precisely what I said. I said that you choose the other positions over RB because they’re that much more valuable. That RB isn’t worth a top half of the first round pick. & except for rare cases, not even back half of the first round.mranquales wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 10:24 am
Josh Allen is a QB. Bijan is an RB. The argument was never whether or not RB is more important than QB, or any other position. The argument that you made, was that you can find a great RB in the late rounds which I've proven to be objectively false.
The post that you quoted was to show that all the SB contenders this year have a top 10 RB, and those RB's (except one) were all drafted in the top 50. So, you're claim that you don't need one is also false, because all the top teams in the NFL RIGHT NOW have one. Even Ashton Jeanty, who is a fridge top 10-12 RB when healthy, is on a 3-1 team.
Then you go on to say other things that I didn’t even say.
My argument was that you can find great RBs in the late rounds. I didn’t say that. Then you add that you proved that to be OBJECTIVELY FALSE?!!! Well, you’re wrong twice here. I never said that &, you CAN, OBJECTIVELY find great RBs in the later rounds. But I never used that word/metric as my reasoning. You can find a great player at any position in the late rounds. It’s just far more rare to. & it’s definitely easier to find good production at RB in later rounds than other positions.
Then this other claim where you put words in my mouth. That I said you don’t need one…meaning that you don’t need a RB or a good one…WTF did I say that?
Why you try sticking to exactly what I’m saying. If you need clarification, then you should ask. Cause you put words in my mouth previously with what everyone else said &, it had nothing to do with me.

Yes, nicely said. Sometimes he brings up some good stuff. He is generally civil. It would be boring around here if we all agreed.Goodtimes333 wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 12:44 pm I don't know why some pile on mranquales. He makes some valid points just like everyone else. As I said in a post about a week ago, it’s not whether we agree or disagree. It’s how you make your arguments. It’s also about when you’re wrong. Admit you’re wrong. It’s also about willing to be corrected. It’s also about being nice to other people. A few people here don’t know when they’ve crossed the line.mstrbass2000 wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2026 2:42 pm i agree he does make some good points and should post more often...i have no problem with people posting their opinions and backing their arguments with facts
