Predict the 2026 record - your realistic expectations

Unread post by Viper »

With Mendoza needing time to adjust, an unproven O line and what I consider average receivers, I’m not really expecting to light it up on offense.

Defensively, we should be at least middle of the pack. That should go a long ways in helping stack wins.

Having said that, we are improved across the board yet still more work to do. I would predict we have 6 wins this year, double what we had last year. If Pete can manage 3 last year, I have faith with a better coaching staff we can do better. If we can beat the teams we’re supposed to plus staying close in the 4th quarter against better talent, we have a punchers chance in some of those.

Personally, at least another year or two to make some real noise if we nail FA and the draft.

He likes to run the ball, a lot apparently 2 or 3 times in a row in some series if the first run works. Its actually the first time ive read anything negative about him, but I guess fans are the first ones to blow their tops if things arent going great at all times.
The fans are worth listening to. Just like us, they see nearly every play of nearly every game. A few years back when we got that guy from Chicago, Bears fan were celebrating that they were rid of him. All the things they said about him were true here. Also, Derek Carr. Other NFL fans thought very highly of him because they only saw his highlights, but we knew the truth.

I think Kubiak runs a good offense. Seattle won the Super Bowl and his ground and pound offense was the primary reason why. He knows how to build an offense and get the players he needs to do it. I'm hopeful, but have zero delusions about anything when it comes to this team.

Much like Shanahan in Denver and his father the entire Kubiak offense is based on running the ball. Thankfully they’ve all been good at it. Fans will get tired of how grinding it is. Plenty will complain we run too much. Front side run. Backside run. Play action and bootleg off the play action. These will be the 4 tenets that this offense is based on.

The beauty of it is for a simple as the plan is for the defense you have to defend the whole field. It all looks the same pre snap so it puts a lot of pressure on a defense to stay discipline.

If we're winning games, only a very select few will complain about it.

Raiders can win the Super Bowl the next couple of years and much of the fanbase will still have a Napoleon complex because of the losing culture for so long.

Similar to many SF Giants fans even after winning the WS 3 times in 5 years, many still acted like abused red headed stepchildren towards the rest of the division lol.

For this year if we see concrete steps of improvement I can live with the results.

In essence if this year looks like 2015 when we were on the rise I’ll call it realistic.

You'd never hear a complaint out of me. I love old school run the ball first and play action offense. "The same thing wins that always won", a good solid running game with a play action offense will always work with the right personnel and a commitment to sticking with it.

Love it.

It seemed like those Shanahan Bronco teams could throw anyone in at rb and they’d get 1000 yards. He, with Kubiak and Gibbs, didn’t invent the zone running scheme but they pretty much perfected it.

Denver used to manufacture 1,000 yard running backs in Shanny Sr's offense. Myself, I am a fan of his approach and often wonder would he could have done with Bo and Marcus had Al embraced what he was trying to do.

Jeanty should thrive but I am also excited what the role players can potentially accomplish out of the backfield.

Record be damned. I just hope we do good enough that there is some momentum and excitement building for next year. We are in a big hole, but we are turning the roster around (old to new). If we can hit on some of these pups on rookie contracts, that is like putting gasoline on our rebuild.

Yeah, if we’re looking like we’re really building something, esp with Mendoza and the O, then I couldn’t care less about the record. A high pick in next year’s class could net you a very big haul.

Yeah, Jeanty and Washington will hopefully be one of the top 1-2 punches in the league.

Record be damned, I just hope we are IN most of the games we play, even if we lose more than we win.
Tired of the game being over in the first half.

I feel like every offence wants to build around the run. There’s generally just a lot less that can go wrong on runs. The difference I’d say with shannahan or mcvay isn’t that it’s really more of a focal point… it’s that they’re really good at engineering run schemes that are hard to stop. They run more because they can.
