Raiders Go To Texas Tonight, The Game Day Thread
So here is another look at the new team, and hopefully the view is better, especially on the D.
What are you watching, what are you wanting, and most importantly we need to get out of there without harm to anyone.
Time to see more, and hopefully a few of the youngsters start to shine.

And heres the thing, Mendoza is the kind of player who will watch this play 100 times. People on here mad because he was upbeat in the sidelines later in an interview,.. well I dont want him moping around losing confidence kicking himself over a practice game pick 6 that can be fixed, let the fans overreact. This is where I want him to make these mistakes early on and in practice game simulation when possible. He was humbled in his presser and you could see he was feeling bad and bummed about the play but its plain to see he has the potential to be a great QB ..and even the greatest make mistakes.Attyla wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2026 9:27 am It should have worked, he was working the progressions for the deep ball, and felt the pressure. He then went to his check down. DB was just spying on the short pass and jumped the route. Rogers screwed up as well after chipping the lineman he does not look for another blocking option. Zuhn as well, it was a terrible blocking sequence for him. As bad a throw a Mendoza made, the line is at fault as well. Grant was horrible on that play. Meredith starts well enough but loses his feet under him and is off balance as he gets blasted by his assignment. The only guy who did well on the play was Mafi. The rest were just shit.
But Mendoza needs to watch this play a bunch of times. He threw the ball, and as bad as the line was, it was his ball in his hand. But the line play was really bad, and that is just what I saw watching the play repeatedly. But everyone on one side of the field is not going to win any prizes for play design. Even the TE lined up on the right does a 5 and in route. So they literally have everyone left of the hash so the Texans were able to stack the right side in their coverage shells....DBs love that stuff.

The hysterical part is people who gave a pass to Carr after nine years of (at best) mediocrity.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2026 10:13 am And heres the thing, Mendoza is the kind of player who will watch this play 100 times. They can share their opinions when nine years have lapsed.

It's Mendoza's job to take care of the ball. We said it with previous qbs and blamed them, Fernando is no different. To me the ball was a little late and you can't be careless with throws into the middle of the field. A learning lesson for both players. Sit in the zone, be on time & accurate with throws in the middle of the field

No; Raiders are seeing if they can get a 7th round draft pick for him first

This was a reasonable take before something snapped......Opoponax50 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 5:45 pm That really is the most realistic way to look at it. Between the coaching staff and so many new players, it's going to take a while to put everything together. Progress as the season wears on is what to look for.
a month ago you said this: "I think Kubiak runs a good offense. Seattle won the Super Bowl and his ground and pound offense was the primary reason why. He knows how to build an offense and get the players he needs to do it. I'm hopeful, but have zero delusions about anything when it comes to this team."
Those are reasonable takes. Give it time as you have suggested before. Maybe last night there was some "indulgence" that knocked you off your earlier takes? ;)

All the talking heads are saying its just part of the leaning process and he looks very good and some stated his arm is much better than they thought coming out of college.
He's going to be great...
Akiman was 0-11 his first season...qb rating of 55.7 9 TDs 18 INTs.
Patience...

Exactly. It's not like he looked in over his head. He made some stupid rookie mistakes and will make more. He seems eager to learn from those mistakes and get better. Hope to see him get a lot more snaps next week. i agree 100% fernando wants to be great and he puts in the damn work to be great no one is more critical about his play then himself, all this kid needs is more playing time to get caught up to speed on the pro gameALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2026 10:13 am And heres the thing, Mendoza is the kind of player who will watch this play 100 times. i love that he has a short memory, after he threw the pick 6 he did not fold up he came back strong and made some great throws and probably gets us some scores if malik benson does drop 2 easy catches
i wanted the kid playing last week til the end, we already know what we got in aoc

Dan you responded to it seems its on Mendoza. He took 4 or 5 hitch steps to his left and all the recievers were covered or stacked like you said. A quick throw to the RB would've made sense but by the time he went through his progression even that throw wasn't an option. Mendo then turned to throw over the middle but that was now late as the saftey was moving up.
Its a real good breakdown.
