Raiders Go To Texas Tonight, The Game Day Thread
So here is another look at the new team, and hopefully the view is better, especially on the D.
What are you watching, what are you wanting, and most importantly we need to get out of there without harm to anyone.
Time to see more, and hopefully a few of the youngsters start to shine.

Texans are playing none of their starters. Im hoping for the O line to get some solid time together. Leave a unit in for a while as a whole.
Mostly hoping for no injuries

Other than our offensive line, I am not worried about the offense. We have some talent. It’s the defense that I want to see start being cohesive and get some stops on third down. Last week was pretty pitiful.

Hoping for the younger players to show something, the ones battling for a roster spot. Would be ideal for the starters to play a couple series with obviously no injuries.
It would be a step in the right direction if the self inflicted penalties were kept to a minimum. Would like to see our kickers hit at least a couple mid range shots.
It’s ok if your opponent across from you is a superior athlete but, at minimum compete.
Not sure if Thornton is playing but if he does, you’re not a rookie anymore, show us improvement.
Play calling will be pretty vanilla but know your assignment and execute.

The D has to show some improvement. A pass defended at all would be nice. We likely won’t see a lot of our starters. Houston is holding theirs out. Offense seemed to be progressing fine. Defense needs to get a more on the same page. The coverage wasn’t bad last week but nobody felt the need to reach out and knock the ball down. Hoping that was a focal point

Arizona started the game 10/10 on passes. Anything would be better.
Watching Mendoza is the real fun.

I certainly hope we play the starters, even against the Texans 2’s. They haven’t earned the right to sit, JMO.

I don't anticipate seeing the starters much tonight, especially the ones who are already considered day 1 starters...maybe we'll see a bit more of them in next week's game.
For tonight, I think it will be mostly about evaluating our fringe players and building better depth for our roster.

Like to see the defense make at least one stop.

No injuries!!! Biggest thing for me. Bech is the guy I have my eye on. Will he have another solid game? Will the O-line open any running lanes? If any O-linemen get beat, tackle your guy. Take the penalty. Don't let our QB's get hit.

Starting O and D need reps. Like everyone else, I hate the possibility of preseason injuries, but this team needs to play against actual teams. And it's not just the players who need quality reps, it's the coaching staff too. It's tough to analyze overall team play, but you can grade individual efforts and skills.

Too many positions up for grabs to sit them. They need to see how they stack up against other players than those on the Raiders. Tough calls will have to be made soonOpoponax50 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 8:33 am Starting O and D need reps. Well, I think film room, practice field, joint practices all give you valuable data, but there is no better barometer than under the lights, so I think we do not have the luxury of sitting many guys. So I agree that they should play the borderline guys a lot.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 9:41 am Too many positions up for grabs to sit them.
