He's average?mranquales wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 3:44 pm DJ Glaze isn't the best, but he is average. Average NFL tackles are not as easy to upgrade as people think, especially ones who get push in the run game.
DJ Glaze allowed 10 sacks and 48 pressures last year. And was below average run blocking.
I hope he improves to average. Maybe he will this year. But last year he was Terrible.

When has something as trivial as facts got in the way of his opinions?chucker wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2026 6:23 pm Most regimes do have significant turnover. That's normal. You actually said "Every draft pick from the old regime is gone except for JPJ, Bowers, and Mayer". A blatantly false statement.
Also false is that Gruden traded two all pros.
Just post opinions if your "facts" aren't facts.
And it's a JPJ problem if he's playing with less energy under different coaching staffs. NFL players should play like they are fighting for their jobs..... or they may soon be out of a job.
I like JPJ..... I just think he's overrated by some Raider fans and his sketchy availability isn't encouraging.

One of the easiest things that can improve our defense, is for our offense to improve its time of possession.LayneStaley wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 4:34 pm Man I hope this isn’t another season of shit D. I’m getting worried about the run and pass D.

Everyone played bad on OL last year. I don't put any stock into Carrol's regime.powski wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 4:07 pm I hope he improves to average. Maybe he will this year. But last year he was Terrible.
Aaron Donald, Vita Vea, Chris Jones, and Jalen Carter all have rings.
Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, Aidan Hutchinson, Trey Hendrickson don't.

It might tell you that he's made over $23 million in his career and doesn't feel like signing for just above the minimum as a prove-it guy. I think he'd have suitors for the kind of money that Gay got.haji81872 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 8:39 am No one has signed Carlson for even a competition and there are some pretty bad kickers out there right now. That tells me all I need to know.
One issue with Carlson is that some taller long-legged kickers can struggle with consistency if they get out of a rhythm. A little "off" is a bigger issue with a longer swing of the leg. I do wonder if that gets exacerbated by the weird kickoffs these days because kickers are asked to do strange little pop ups instead of kicking right through the ball.

Actually I wish Mendoza could practice vs the Texans defense more often. It will only make him better.mstrbass2000 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 1:59 pm Raiders Report Mitchell Renz

The Raiders got CRUSHED today against the Texans
Fernando Mendoza & Kirk Cousins had some good & bad moments (both threw a pick 6)
Raiders trenches got dominated against Houston which is CRUSHING to hear as a Raiders fan

I quoted only the part of your response I was talking about: DJ Glaze and his play at RT.mranquales wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 6:14 pm Everyone played bad on OL last year. I don't put any stock into Carrol's regime.
I do think coaching hurt him last year. But we dont know how much it hurt each player. Kolton Miller didnt play bad at LT when he was healthy.
Also, he wasnt just bad he was horrendous. The most porous Tackle in football or close enough. Definitely the worst starting offense lineman on the Raiders who had a historically bad OL.
I haven't completely written him off, but it is a big stretch to assume he will be average this year.
I think he might be. Because he's younger I will say the bad coaching hurt him more than an older vet.
But he's not there yet. He's only hopefully close to average. Hopefully only.
I hope he raises his game to close to average or even better. But I am definitely not counting on him yet. And I am worried about the RT spot a lot.

No, your argument does not make sense. You cannot say one position is more important than another using 4 players to make your point.mranquales wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 6:14 pm Everyone played bad on OL last year. I don't put any stock into Carrol's regime.

Kickers/punters are an absolutely must have in the nfl, oftentimes a game comes down to a single kick to win. Personally, I always felt pride having Ray Guy as our punter and never considered it a slap in the face.mranquales wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 3:44 pm DJ Glaze isn't the best, but he is average. We don't know we need a kicker until we see what Gay does, and at that point, just sign another one. We shouldn't be relying on our kicker to score points anyway, unless it's to seal a post-season victory. I've always felt the Raiders having great kickers/punters was a slap in the face. I'd rather never punt the ball than have an All-Pro punter.
Depth is something you talk about after your starters are established. We need to know who our actual players are first on defense. On offense, I would argue we DO have depth.
Hell, all we have is depth at WR. We have good backups at every position except center.
NT is our biggest need and it's not close. NT is literally the difference between winning and losing games.
I would also suggest that a proper coaching staff is the biggest difference between wins and losses. Early indications suggest we may have that finally. Regardless how any of us try to spin it, this rebuild doesn’t happen in year one. I have no idea how many times a last place team made it to the playoffs the next year but, I’m guessing it’s pretty minimal. That’s exactly where I’m keeping my expectations for this year.
And I think the staff realizes we need a NT but there’s only so much you can do in a first year. Instead of panicking to sign an older veteran that may not match our window to compete, we are exercising patience. Vita is not whom I’m referring to, I actually wouldn’t mind seeing him anchor the line, but at what cost?
Generally, the team looks headed on the right path and it’ll be an exciting next few years…..hopefully

It’s hard to judge Glaze, because he was borderline league average at RT as a rookie, which is no easy task. Lots of 1st rounders can’t accomplish that.powski wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 2:46 am I quoted only the part of your response I was talking about: DJ Glaze and his play at RT.

But he was objectively awful last year. Part of that is due to coaching for sure, but he also has legit athletic limitations for the position. I’ve always thought he’d better inside and was just playing tackle because he can do it and there was a need
Hopefully one of Zuhn or Grant can own that position

Eh...Lions are right there with them.DeathStar24 wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 4:47 am Rams, Bucs, Chiefs, Eagles >> Raiders, Browns, Lions, Bengals
In fact, the Lions are the perfect example for my point. If they had an elite DT, that would probably put them over the hump.
