Around the NFL
No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

Dipshit idea. The travel alone would ruin seasons. As for a SB outside the US? Screw that as well.

The bastards would have to change the N in NFL. National has a meaning. At that point, I truly don't think I'd be able to watch. Im not interested in a global league and all that comes with it

I am opposed to playing the biggest game in all of sports outside the country and that includes close by in Canada or Mexico and I am supportive of both countries in general. But this game is uniquely ours. This is not like the world cup which moves the host country each go around or the Olympics. This is a game with roots in the US. I am sure nobody from overseas is wanting their national championships to be played in the US. I am absolutely sure that the vast majority of Canadians do not want the Grey Cup being played anywhere but in Canada. And why would they?Goodtimes333 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 9:31 am The bastards would have to change the N in NFL. National has a meaning. At that point, I truly don't think I'd be able to watch. Not in our lifetime. They would have to sponsor a separate league first to build fan interest to the point where high schools and colleges over there start programs that will feed their league with players. You cant rely on the US colleges to supply the talent. That would just water the competition down.

Probably long term you have to go there though.
Probably should work more like who the baseball use to be, both conferences didn't play each other until the World Series.
So these out of time zone countries have their own league and in the end the two champs play in the World Bowl.

American Sports.
The World Cup is legitimately bigger in viewership. 175m vs 500m.
UEFA Champions League Final says at least as big as SB could be considerably more.
India's Cricket Championship IPL 300m
The end of year Game Awards gets the same number as the Super Bowl now but is growing faster.

I should have specified league sport. I view world cup like the Olympics. It is more of an event to me. Soccer in general has so many professional leagues. I had no idea that India's cricket got that level of viewership. I looked on "roadtrips" site and they list a lot of events like various "world cup" events and of course both the winter games and summer games.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 11:19 am American Sports.

If they could manage a yearly world cup, imo it would be as big and possibly even grow faster.Attyla wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 11:38 am I should have specified league sport. Soccer is like tackle football at the extreme end and then trying to organize all the leagues into one event.

I am just guessing based on the amount of prep North America put into hosting, but I am willing to bet the logistics is why it does not happen. Also, all of those qualifiers to get in, that process takes a lot of time. I am no sports organizer but doing that for a world event and trying to put it together yearly is in my mind an impossible thing.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 11:44 am If they could manage a yearly world cup, imo it would be as big and possibly even grow faster.

Right, it's a huge undertaking, but if they could it bigger. Now they could make something more like X leagues you crown your champions. Then 8 teams or whatever meet in Spain (as an example) and we'll crown the world champ each year. That would be similar and more doable than what they do now.Attyla wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 12:15 pm I am just guessing based on the amount of prep North America put into hosting, but I am willing to bet the logistics is why it does not happen. At one time the second largest TV sports event world wide was the draw for the World Cup groups.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 11:19 am American Sports.

I also think the appeal of it being every 4 years is a factor. Scotland is a perfect example of the benefits. They had a blast visiting our country and showed up in big numbers. It helped that it had been a long time since their last berth, but you would thin that out a bit if it were every year. And the world gets up for the cup because it brings together so many nations. Would you have the viewership increases if it were every year? Not going to guess but I could see it. But making it special like they do now has a big appeal.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 12:18 pm Right, it's a huge undertaking, but if they could it bigger.
