That's the whole theory behind tanking in sports, to be bad enough to get something great in return.pfish57 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 6:32 pm I never bought in to something being absolute shit creating something good..just me;)
We hope mission accomplished.
IFFFFF Mendoza becomes Mahomes-like, best thing that ever happened to the Raiders.
It took sucking right to the very end to get him.
I say in a very light hearted manner.

You can hate the result of the Pete Carroll hire and one of the worst seasons in Raider history while also being thankful for the #1 pick and the reset that came from the result of it. You don't have to pick one or the other

I'm happy we got Mendoza, but I will never give PC credit for anything except being a retarded loser!!!Goodtimes333 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 10:09 pm You can hate the result of the Pete Carroll hire and one of the worst seasons in Raider history while also being thankful for the #1 pick and the reset that came from the result of it. Kermit was drafted by a team that was winning 10 some games every year.SkullCrusher wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 9:40 pm That's the whole theory behind tanking in sports, to be bad enough to get something great in return.

Good analogy. He’s a softy whenever he gets to Mahomes instead of taking him down. Then afterwards kissing his ass.rich72 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 5:56 pm Cousins is like 37. Maxx is a wolf when he needs to be a dove, and a dove when he needs to be a wolf.

Pete was great at USC, great at Seattle and had a reputation of being still in touch with the players and the game. I was pleased with the signing and did not think age was a factor. He just did not have it in him to put together a staff of younger minds who could keep up with the newer processes. Shame really, he was so good earlier on.
And yea, I was wrong. It happens. I was truly down on the Gruden deal, the Pierce deal and many other coaching hires over the years. Thank God we got a player/owner who seems to know his shit or we would have a Davis centric decision system for years to come and we all know that the Davis system is wrong

Yep, hard to say it, but the chefs are a very good drafting team.RaiderandBulldog wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 11:39 pm Kermit was drafted by a team that was winning 10 some games every year.

I understand your position but, Pete wasn't aways a retarded loser...lol. Someone on here posted a theory a while back that Pete probably took the job as a last big payday, knowing that there was nothing he could do with this pathetic excuse of a team. I'm tending to think along the same lines.pfish57 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 10:49 pm I'm happy we got Mendoza, but I will never give PC credit for anything except being a retarded loser!!!

He may not have always been that but it was quite obvious that the game passed him by. That and the fact he wasnt our first choice were my gripes with his hiring.Dr Death wrote: Sat Aug 08, 2026 5:54 am I understand your position but, Pete wasn't aways a retarded loser...lol.
