Lets talk Cars/trucks!
I learned to drive on my buddies farm when I was 12 years old. His father was police Chief and would get old confiscated cars for the farm. Learned how to use a 3 speed on the column. Drove on dirt roads through the woods. Made drivers Ed really easy....
When I was 16 I worked in a auto salvage yard and bought a burned out 1968 Ford Falcon. Removed the interior and replace it with parts from another wreck. It was a 3 speed on the column which I converted to a 3 speed on the floor. Stupid kid lol.
I eventually traded in a couple of years later for a 1969 Camaro convertible. Blue with a white top.
Should of never traded it in but did...
A brand new 1974 Nova SS I ordered from a car dealer I was working at. ($3900) 350, 4 barrel, duel exhaust, Posi rear, nice when new. Turned into a rust bucket and mechanical nightmare in a few years. Eventually sold it for a song and a dance to an old friend.
Owned a few transport vehicles for a few year to get me and the wife to work. 66 Impala, 64 Chevy II during the lean years.
Bought a 85 full sized Bronco and use it on the beach all the time and was another fun truck since the kids were showing up at this juncture.
Bought a new 1990 Hyundai 5 speed and taught the wife to shift. Gray hair started...
Bought a used Jeep Cherokee that was a work house for a few years
Owned a couple of Ford Taurus's that always seemed to overheat.
Bought my wife a new Jeep Wrangler in 2008...my younger son totaled it a few years later.
Bought my neighbors 2004 Lexus ES 350 with 160k and it ran great. Super nice car.
Bought a Chrysler Crossfire and still have it over 20 years later and looks great. Super fun car. Looking to finally sell it.
Bought a new 2023 Tacoma which is a long time keeper.
And finally was looking at corvettes but thought I look silly in one so ended up getting an IS500 Lexus, which satisfies the sport car bug.
So only owned a few new vehicles over the years. Was generally a buy and hold guy.
Now that I'm retired with more disposable income having fun buying cars.
So what was your car journey?

Currently enjoying my Mercedes. Fast as hell and just a comfortable ride.
I have looked at a classic muscle car a few times, my personal favorite would likely be '70 Chevelle 396 V8 with a 4 speed Muncie, Edelbrock quadrajet set up. But you drive that car, you need a wallet that says "bad motherf[raiders_icon]cker" and a pile of cash. You are going to pay to play with that car.

If the funds and space were available, I would like to have . . .
- 1968 Camaro (396)
- 1969 Road Runner (440)
- 1970 Cuda (340)

For the longest time I wanted a Plum Crazy 70 till I saw this:
But has to be a 383 or a 440. Stick if I can find one, automatic if I must. When it comes time I'm looking for a hard top not convertible. Something about these being available in convertible feels "wrong."
Hemi? Maybe if I want to give up my entire 401k.

Almost bought my friends 1969 stingray.
427 tri power with T tops. That thing could scoot.
Always wanted an older Power Wagon with the 440

I have. Between the regular engine 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor running the front axle (AWD) giving it 1250 total HP. Around 209kmstrbass2000 wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 7:32 am anyone check out the vette zr1x 0-60 in 1.6 sec 1/4 mile in 8.8 sec
I'm looking at the 2027 Grand Sport (In Blue) at a much friendlier price. The transmissions are problematic which keeps me on the sideline for now, plus the wife gave me look after I mentioned it....lol
But to be fair I just got a Lexus IS500 with 472 HP that flies. So she has a right to complain.
Same car and color without the after market exhaust...

Sidebar: Anybody else notice more and more cars on the road that "sound" like they are hauling ass but nobody is moving out? In other words, most times you hear an exhaust of a hot rod and look around and see a car taking off like a bat out of hell but today I "hear" the sound but no cars standing out. All noise and no go?

BYD makes some great vehicles with a huge bang for your buck. Not currently available in the US.
Here is a car they made that is the fastest in the world. Electric. Just over 308 MPH

Oh yeah. I'm tired of cars sounding like a push mower on steroidsXramfan wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 8:38 am Sidebar: Anybody else notice more and more cars on the road that "sound" like they are hauling ass but nobody is moving out? That's cool. I seem to remember someone trying something similar back in the day for drag racing. It was banned for whatever reason/s. It was more like some kind of add on/flux type of thing if I remember correctly.
